Chapter 7 Fear
Chapter 7 Fear
Shortly after Li Jiuhe left home for the fifth floor, Li Yi picked up a small stool and went to the living room window.
She placed the stool on the ground to make sure it was stable, then stepped onto it, and then carefully climbed onto a square table.
As he climbed, he muttered a complaint: "These short arms and legs are so inconvenient."
Standing on the square table, you can see the path under the streetlights downstairs in the community through the living room window.
Li Yi just leaned against the window, as if she were in a trance.
A moment later, her eyes widened slightly, and she saw a middle-aged man dressed in tattered clothes, like a beggar, standing under a dim street lamp.
The man seemed to have been standing there for a long time, but he was not visible unless one looked closely.
He didn't notice Li Yi; he just looked up, staring at the fifth floor of the building.
It remained motionless in that pose, and if you didn't look closely, you would think it was a sculpture.
"It must be him," Li Yi said with a smile.
She quickly climbed down from the square table, went back to the bedroom to change her pajamas, pulled a silver dagger from under her pillow, and put it into a small pink cloth bag.
She then slung her small cloth bag over her shoulder, went to the living room, put on her shoes, opened the door, and left.

The stairwell on the fifth floor.
Li Jiuhe came to his senses and, after confirming that the task had been reset, walked back to the room with the door slightly ajar.
This time he didn't hesitate and pushed the door open and went in, but he didn't go near the bedroom with the lights on, nor did he turn on the lights.
Instead, he quietly turned on his phone's flashlight, quickly surveyed the living room and kitchen, and then went into the bathroom to take a look.
After leaving the bathroom, I went into another secondary bedroom.
The process was carried out without making a sound.
The second bedroom in front of us is the same room where Yao Yujie appeared to have emerged from the darkness before the mission was reset.
However, Li Jiuhe was not afraid.
Because he knew that if his guess was correct, Yao Yujie shouldn't be in this secondary bedroom right now.
He quickly searched the area, including the wardrobe and under the bed.
No one lived in the second bedroom, and as expected, Yao Yujie's bloodied and mangled figure was nowhere to be seen.
Next, Li Jiuhe only needs to confirm whether the scene before the mission reset will happen again to prove his judgment.
He arrived at the master bedroom, where the lights were on but the door was closed.
The last time he stood here, he couldn't help but feel nervous because the room was pitch black.
But this time, the house had already been searched beforehand, so there was no tension.
He deliberately turned the doorknob of the master bedroom door slightly, just like last time.
"Who's there? Who's outside? Speak up!"
Jiang Kun's terrified, trembling voice quickly came out, saying exactly the same thing as last time.
"I am Li Jiuhe, your neighbor who lives on the third floor. I heard someone screaming just now, so I ran up to see what happened."
"Ah, it's a man."
Jiang Kun visibly relaxed, and after hearing that it was his downstairs neighbor, his tone became much more normal. He said to Chen Yin, who was also in the house, "Then I'll open the door."
Chen Yin's voice immediately came through: "Don't open it! We clearly saw Yao Yujie outside just now..."
This time, Li Jiuhe interrupted their conversation directly: "I searched all the rooms just now, and I didn't see anyone else."
"Yeah?"
Jiang Kun and Chen Yin were immediately relieved.
Without saying anything more, Jiang Kun immediately opened the bedroom door.
At the same moment, Li Jiuhe turned his head to look at the secondary bedroom not far away.
He wanted to see if Yao Yujie would appear silently in the dark space of this second bedroom again, just like last time.
But this time there was clearly nothing; as expected, Yao Yujie did not appear!
Having confirmed his suspicions, Li Jiuhe's fear subsided considerably.
Jiang Kun stood in the bedroom, holding the door open with one hand, looking at Li Jiuhe.
He recognized the man in front of him; he was indeed his neighbor. He had bumped into Li Jiuhe several times in the elevator and would sometimes greet him politely.
"Are you...are you sure you're all alone outside?" Jiang Kun asked, still worried.
"OK!" Li Jiuhe nodded. "May I come in?"
Although he heard him say that, Jiang Kun didn't dare to go out and just nodded.
After Li Jiuhe entered the bedroom, he immediately closed the door.
Just like last time, as he was about to ask Li Jiuhe for his phone to make a call, he saw that Li Jiuhe had already handed him his phone.
"Look, now not only my phone has a signal, but yours should too," Li Jiuhe said.
Jiang Kun was taken aback, and he and Chen Yin quickly picked up their phones to check, and sure enough, they found that the signal was full.
Jiang Kun immediately opened the dial pad.
"Are you going to call the police?" Li Jiuhe asked.
Jiang Kun nodded: "Yes, because... my family... isn't quite right..."
"Did you see Yao Yujie's ghost?" Li Jiuhe continued to ask.
Jiang Kun and Chen Yin were startled and stared intently at Li Jiuhe: "How did you know?"
Li Jiuhe sat down against the edge of the large bed and said bluntly, "I not only know about Yao Yujie's ghost, but I also know many of your secrets."
The man and woman in front of them exchanged a glance, their expressions shifting between light and shadow, clearly indicating that they were very flustered.
"Calling the police is the right thing to do," Li Jiuhe said to Jiang Kun. "But not to have the police catch ghosts, because there are no ghosts in this world. You can confess to the police that you and Chen Yin conspired to deliberately throw flowerpots from a high-rise building to kill Yao Yujie, and that you have admitted your mistakes and are willing to accept the punishment."
"I...I have absolutely no idea...what are you talking about?" Jiang Kun looked flustered, waving his hands frantically.
Chen Yin retorted, "Who are you? Stop spouting nonsense! Get out!"
Li Jiuhe nodded: "I can leave, but I forgot to tell you earlier. Before entering the bedroom, I think I saw a woman with a split head and covered in blood walk into the living room from the hallway. Do you recognize her?"
"Ah!" Jiang Kun and Chen Yin's expressions changed drastically.
Boom!
A dull thud sounded as if confirming Li Jiuhe's words.
"She's here again! Yao Yujie didn't leave at all!" Chen Yin said, trembling.
"You...you said...there's no one outside?" Jiang Kun was terrified again.
"There's no one here, but she's not human." Li Jiuhe shrugged.
"She, she's the one you brought here?!" Jiang Kun suddenly exclaimed.
"No." Li Jiuhe shook his head.
"It must be him!" Chen Yin shouted, pointing at him. "You came as soon as Yao Yujie appeared. None of the other neighbors were woken up, but you live on the third floor. You shouldn't have been able to hear any noise from our floor from this far away."
Li Jiuhe spread his hands: "I really didn't bring Yao Yujie. It was you guys who brought her."
"Us?" Jiang Kun and Chen Yin looked at each other in bewilderment.
Bang!
At this moment, the bedroom door shook again, making a slight cracking sound from the wooden planks.
The couple looked terrified and quickly turned to look.
Li Jiuhe said, word by word, "If I'm not mistaken, it's your fear of her that attracted her. So the more afraid you are now, the more terrifying she becomes, and the more terrifying she becomes, the more afraid you become. It's a vicious cycle that started the moment Yao Yujie appeared."
He then pointed to their phones: "Check your phones now, isn't there no signal again?"
