Chapter 319: Phield VS Jamie(1)
Chapter 319: Phield VS Jamie(1)
"Holy shit, what was that?!"
Phield immediately felt for his heart, then patted his head. Only after confirming that he was still alive did he finally let out a sigh of relief.
"It’s a tracking skill." Having acquired far more knowledge about Divine Chosen, Rosalia instantly recognized what had happened. "We’ve been exposed."
"We need to leave. We’re too close to the city gate. If a fierce battle breaks out, we’ll be easily surrounded."
The moment she finished speaking, Phield leapt onto his warhorse and immediately galloped in the opposite direction.
"Wait for me, you pest~"
Ophelia huffed and puffed as she ran after them, her body bouncing with every step. If Rosalia hadn’t hidden herself inside the greatsword and traveled with Phield, she would probably have fallen behind as well.
"Huh? Little Fat Dragon, you’re a snail too?"
Phield was stunned. With legs that long and a figure that perfect, how could she run so slowly? Could it be that Corrupted Divine Chosen were naturally slow?
"Hmph. You’re riding a warhorse, of course you’re faster." Ophelia gritted her teeth in protest. "And my big tail is slowing me down."
"Stop complaining and get up here."
Ashina reached out a hand and pulled Ophelia onto the giant wolf’s back as the group rapidly retreated.
"Don’t lead the enemy back to the manor. We’ll find an open area. If she really dares to come alone, we’ll surround and kill her."
Phield snorted coldly.
He had never liked running away.
Taking the initiative was his style.
"She’s just a Shadow World Sect deacon. We need to hit her with everything we’ve got!"
Everyone kept treating him like an easy target.
That simply wouldn’t do.
Today, he was going to beat her senseless and make her perform a defeat animation.
"Ashina, take Little Fat Dragon and hide. Don’t stay too close to me."
If they scared the enemy away immediately, there would be no fun at all.
"Yes, my lord. Please be careful. Rosalia, protect my lord."
Ashina gave Phield a worried glance. Thinking of her own insufficient strength, she let out a helpless sigh before charging into the gray mist.
Carrying the Greatsword of Gluttony on his back with Rosalia hidden inside it, Phield rode alone through the gray mist, swiftly navigating the terrain of Nightfall Domain that he knew so well.
After barely fifteen minutes of riding, the sound of rushing wind erupted behind him.
"Danger, Phield! An enemy is approaching at high speed!"
Rosalia hurriedly warned him.
Turning his head, he saw a crimson streak of light barreling toward him like an arrow released from a bow.
Just as Phield prepared to meet it head-on, the red streak condensed into a human figure and landed on the ground.
The foul stench of corruption in the air was swept away, replaced by an overwhelming smell of blood mixed with something impossible to describe.
"Hello there, Phield. Someone wants to buy your life."
Standing with one hand on her hip in an alluring pose, Jamie quietly admired the shock on Phield’s face.
What she loved most was watching prey transform from surprise to fear, and finally to desperate attempts to please her.
Unfortunately, Phield disappointed her.
He was only briefly startled before quickly regaining his composure.
Disheveled hair.
A loose white dress.
A creepy, lovestruck grin.
A body that trembled from time to time.
I’ve seen this woman somewhere before.
The thought flashed through Phield’s mind.
He shook his head. This wasn’t the time to get distracted.
Returning to the moment, he cooperatively adopted a shocked expression.
"Who are you? Who wants me dead? I can pay triple."
"Allow me to introduce myself. I’m Jamie of the Shadow World Sect, a Slaughter Divine Chosen. As for who wants you dead, I can tell you, but that depends on how well you behave. Don’t worry, I won’t kill you right away. I like strong, handsome boys like you. Especially the moment when I twist their heads off."
Jamie licked her lips.
That insane?
Phield shivered.
"My brother, right? Or maybe my sister."
Making random guesses, Phield glanced at the cloaked man frantically pulling out a Mist Dispelling Lamp.
"Don’t interrupt my client, little dessert Phield. This wonderful time belongs only to the two of us."
Jamie drew out her divine artifact whip and flicked it with all the bearing of an empress.
A crisp crack echoed through the air.
Jamie giggled madly.
"Hehehe. Make sure you endure. That’s what makes it fun."
Phield wiped away a bead of cold sweat.
Normally, he was the one forcing others into defeat animations.
Today, he had somehow encountered a crazy woman who wanted him to perform one instead.
"Hmph. My nickname is Humanoid Goblin King. I’m not afraid at all."
Jokes aside, Phield’s mind raced.
A bold plan quickly formed in his heart.
After communicating with Rosalia through their mental connection, he hooked a finger provocatively and declared with absolute confidence:
"Come over here if you’ve got the guts!"
"You’ll regret that. The bravado of the weak is nothing more than a joke."
The cold gleam in Jamie’s eyes vanished in an instant, replaced by twisted desire.
The moment her toes touched the ground, a nauseating scent of blood spread in every direction.
Her speed reached an astonishing level.
"What monstrous speed. That’s exactly Rosalia’s weakness. Hopefully we can cripple her with a single strike, otherwise this will become troublesome."
In the blink of an eye, all Phield could see was the afterimage Jamie left behind.
A crimson whip shot toward him from the right, nearly two meters away.
Empowered by divine power, the vicious weapon was as unstoppable as a spear.
Phield domineeringly drew the Greatsword of Gluttony.
With Rosalia by his side, he truly had nothing to fear.
"You actually dare fight back? You’re even more foolish than I imagined."
Because the Greatsword of Gluttony was wrapped in burlap, Jamie mistook it for a common weapon and immediately laughed in contempt.
Clang!
The collision of two divine artifacts produced a soul-shaking hum.
Waves of divine power rippled outward.
Jamie’s eyes widened in shock.
"A divine artifact? Looks like today’s harvest is even greater than expected!"
Even a First-Tier divine artifact couldn’t be bought for a million gold coins.
Such treasures were meant to be passed down through generations of a family.
Slaughter divine power surged wildly into the whip.
Unable to contain her excitement, Jamie wrapped the Greatsword of Gluttony with her whip and violently yanked it toward herself.
"It’s mine!"
Without hesitation, Phield released his grip and allowed Jamie to take it.
At the same time, his right hand drew a spear.
As magic power flooded through his body, he shouted with feigned urgency:
"Fine, fine! It’s all yours! Seven days’ worth of stored magic, take every last bit of it! Combat Technique, Myriad Waves!"
A Third-Tier combat technique aimed at a Third-Tier Divine Chosen would probably do little more than scratch the surface.
Jamie understood that perfectly.
She smiled with disdain.
"What a brainless idiot. You don’t even understand the gap between a Divine Chosen and an ordinary mortal. The fact that you’ve survived this long is a miracle."
The moment the whip secured the Greatsword of Gluttony, Jamie prepared to defend against Phield’s magical attack.
"Huh?"
"Why is my heart beating so fast all of a sudden?"
An overwhelming sense of unease and impending death descended upon her like a dark cloud.
For the first time, Jamie felt that something was terribly wrong.
