Chapter 42 Breaking Through Administrative Barriers
Chapter 42 Breaking Through Administrative Barriers
Two days later, the publicity landscape on campus had completely changed.
The student union's "Christmas Party" poster was the same as always, covered with the logos of Sichuan University of Technology's No. 1 Rafting Site, Stone Internet Cafe, and Xu's Milk Tea.
As soon as the new poster for the Digital Music Carnival was posted, it immediately attracted a large crowd.
The background is a deep blue starry sky, and the title is "Digital Music Carnival - Come and Play".
In the upper right corner of the poster, the sponsor's name is prominently displayed: Exclusive Digital Product Sponsor: Edifier Special Sponsor; China Mobile M-Zone Ringback Tone Experience Support.
"Holy crap, Edifier?"
"Even China Mobile is here?"
"The student council's sponsorships are mostly things like bubble tea shops, but this place is getting sponsors from national-level organizations!"
The first person in the student union to see the poster was a member of the external relations department. After seeing the poster, he ran into the student union office.
"Chairman Gao! Minister Xu! Please go and look at the posters for the digital music festival at Mingde Square!"
Student Union President Gao Yu, who was reviewing the event program, frowned upon hearing this: "What's the panic? What poster?"
"It's from the Digital Music Club. They secured sponsorships from Edifier and China Mobile!"
External Relations Director Xu Xin abruptly stood up from his chair: "What? Say it again? Which Walkman? Which Mobile?"
"It's Edifier, the company that sells speakers and headphones! And China Mobile's M-Zone! Their logos are printed on the posters, and lots of people are gathering around to look!"
Xu Xin could hardly believe his ears.
Having been in charge of securing sponsorships for years, he simply couldn't believe that the Digital Music Club, as a non-governmental organization, could attract such a large sponsor.
"Take me there quickly!" Xu Xin and the staff member ran out of the office and headed straight for Mingde Square.
On the other side, Gao Yu was equally shocked. He put down his pen, walked to the window, and looked towards Mingde Square.
The student council office was completely silent, and the other ministers looked at each other in bewilderment.
They used to mock the digital music club as a "makeshift operation" that couldn't secure decent sponsorships. But now...
Student Association Minister Wu Feng stared at the BBS forum. "Chairman Gao, after they secured sponsorship from China Mobile and Edifier, many students said that the Digital Music Festival felt more like a formal event than our Christmas party."
Gao Yu sneered, "No matter how prestigious the sponsors are, what matters most in a gala is the content of the performance and the overall effect! We can invite school leaders to our Christmas party, so do you think they can invite celebrities?"
A while later, Xu Xin came running back, panting, with an incredulous expression on his face.
"Chairman, I checked, it really is Edifier and China Mobile! How did they manage that? Why would those big brands associate with an unofficial student organization?"
Everyone remained silent.
Wu Feng stared at the BBS forum on the computer screen, scrolling the mouse wheel incessantly, his expression growing increasingly grim.
Gao Yu thought to himself: What's the use of sponsorship? If the event can't be held, sponsorship is just a piece of waste paper.
He looked at Wu Feng: "Wu Feng, we've booked the auditorium for our Christmas party. Where is the venue for the digital music festival on Christmas Eve?"
"They booked it for Mingde Square, an open-air event."
"An outdoor event?" Gao Yu's mind started to wander. "Go to the logistics department and the security department. In the name of the student union, raise the safety concerns about holding a large outdoor event at Mingde Square. Including the power load, nighttime lighting, and crowd control, and ask them to reassess."
Wu Feng was taken aback: "Chairman Gao, this..."
"What's this? This is a student activity; safety comes first. We're doing this to be responsible for our classmates."
"Understood." Wu Feng swallowed hard, got up, and left.
Subsequently, Gao Yu personally contacted the presidents of the student unions of various colleges, asking them to make arrangements with the class monitors and branch secretaries of the Communist Youth League in their respective colleges.
The Christmas party is an official school event. Encouraging students to participate actively will be considered in performance evaluations, awards, and overall quality assessments.
As for the digital music festival, it was approved by the school's Youth League Committee. The student union doesn't dare to openly prohibit students from participating, but it doesn't encourage it either. It's up to everyone to decide for themselves.
Gao Yu knew that these two actions might not be enough to stop his classmates from attending the music festival. But if they could make some people hesitate, that would be enough.
When the news reached Lin Feng's ears, he was going over the equipment list with Xu Feng, the head of the music club's equipment group.
"Does the logistics department need to reassess the risks of outdoor activities?" Lin Feng looked up.
Logistics team leader Tan Zhao said helplessly, "They said there are potential safety hazards in using electricity outdoors for our event, and it's unsafe for crowds to gather. Someone from the logistics department has already come to ask us for a safety plan."
"Have you prepared a contingency plan?"
"We have a contingency plan." Tan Zhao held a document in his hand. "The power line diagram and the evacuation plan for people have been prepared in advance."
Lin Feng took the plan: "Let's go. Let's go find the logistics department together."
In the logistics department office, a teacher surnamed Li was looking through documents.
"Hello teacher, I am Lin Feng from the Digital Music Club. I would like to report to you about the venue approval issue for our digital music festival."
Teacher Li glanced at Lin Feng.
"Your event is held outdoors, from afternoon to evening, which puts a heavy electrical load on you. There are also issues with evacuation, noise, and other problems. I'm not trying to make things difficult for you."
Lin Feng said calmly, "Teacher, I completely understand. We have contingency plans for these issues. Could I please give you a brief overview?"
Lin Feng handed over the documents: "This is our complete plan for the operation, including personnel evacuation route map, power load calculation, emergency medical point setup, and power supply guarantee instructions."
Teacher Li took the document and flipped through it page by page. He was silent for a few seconds, then placed the proposal on the table.
"Alright, you all go back first. I'll take another look."
Lin Feng thanked him and left with Tan Zhao.
Emerging from the logistics department, Tan Zhao asked, "President, is that all?"
Lin Feng shook his head: "Not necessarily. Let's go find Teacher Zheng from the school's Youth League Committee."
In the school's Youth League Committee office, Teacher Zheng was reviewing documents.
Lin Feng knocked on the door and entered: "Teacher Zheng, I'd like to report to you about the music festival."
When Teacher Zheng saw Lin Feng, he jokingly said to him, "Lin Feng, when did you get back? I heard you ran away with the money."
Lin Feng laughed and said, "Rumors stop with the wise. You certainly won't believe it, Teacher Zheng."
Teacher Zheng laughed heartily: "Go ahead and speak."
Lin Feng gave a brief report on the preparations for the music festival, and finally mentioned the venue approval process.
"...The logistics department has received feedback from some colleagues saying that we have potential safety hazards. I have already submitted the safety plan to the staff in the logistics department. But I still wanted to report to you and hear your opinion."
Teacher Zheng understood immediately. He picked up the phone and dialed a number.
"Old Li, this is Old Zheng from the Youth League Committee. The Digital Music Festival was approved by our school's Youth League Committee. I've reviewed their event plan; it's very comprehensive. Students are enthusiastic about innovative activities, and we should support them. As long as they don't violate any rules or cause any trouble, let them do it. You don't need to pay attention to the student union's opinions!"
After hanging up the phone, he looked at Lin Feng.
"Alright, go ahead."
Lin Feng bowed and said, "Thank you, Teacher Zheng."
Unexpectedly, Teacher Zheng suddenly asked, "Did you secure the sponsorships from China Mobile and Edifier?"
Lin Feng nodded.
Teacher Zheng didn't say anything, but her eyes were full of admiration.
