Chapter 21 Lost
Chapter 21 Lost
There are two politics teachers in the first year of high school. One teacher teaches the even-numbered classes, and the other teacher teaches the odd-numbered classes.
Lu Jie, who was in Class 3, and Zhong Muqing, who was in Class 9, had the same teacher for their political science class.
The exam papers were all graded by the same teacher.
For monthly and midterm exams, teachers usually ask class representatives or academic representatives to help grade non-subjective questions such as multiple choice and fill-in-the-blank questions.
For example, Shu Panpan, who was the class monitor, was called by the homeroom teacher to help compile the grades.
So the exam papers are graded very quickly, but it's only afternoon now, and even if we grade them quickly, the political exam papers probably won't be finished yet.
He was just about to bring this up when he suddenly remembered:
"Is Ms. Xu your homeroom teacher?"
"Yes," Zhong Muqing nodded. "If the papers haven't been graded yet, I can ask Teacher Xu to take out our papers and grade them first."
"This works?" Lu Jie asked in surprise.
"Teacher Xu will definitely agree," Zhong Muqing said confidently.
The teacher who taught them politics was named Xu Ya. He was very kind and spoke slowly and deliberately.
This was one of the gentlest teachers Lu Jie had ever encountered.
After all, if you have an impatient personality, you'll be driven crazy by disobedient or troublesome students when you take charge of a sports class.
He felt that given Ms. Xu's personality, if he really persisted in wanting to see the grades, the teacher probably wouldn't refuse.
"Zhong Muqing is here? Oh, Lu Jie, you're here too?" Xu Ya heard the students greeting him and looked up to see Zhong Muqing and Lu Jie.
"Zhong Muqing, you did very well on this exam; you've made great progress!"
As the homeroom teacher, Xu Ya may not know the scores of every student in this exam, but he certainly knows the students who ranked high or whose scores changed significantly.
The most unexpected and delightful thing for him during this exam was Zhong Muqing.
The problem student who used to give him the biggest headache has not only stopped fighting and causing trouble during this period, but has actually studied seriously and made great progress.
Looking at Lu Jie again, a strange look appeared in his eyes.
He naturally knew that Zhong Muqing had been getting very close to Lu Jie from Class 3 recently, and they sat together every evening during self-study.
He felt that the two were showing signs of dating too early, but he didn't interfere. Even when the homeroom teacher of Class 3 talked to him about it, he just laughed it off.
For Zhong Muqing, puppy love really wasn't a problem.
He even strongly supported Zhong Muqing's early romantic relationships, believing that dating early would prevent her from fighting and causing trouble.
Moreover, he believes that not only he supports it, but also the school leaders.
Of course, if early romantic relationships really affect Lu Jie's studies, that would also be a problem.
He had already come up with a solution in his mind and was just waiting to talk to the homeroom teacher of Class 3 after the exam results came out.
Unexpectedly, both Lu Jie and Zhong Muqing made significant progress in their grades.
It turns out that these two weren't actually having a puppy love affair all this time, but were genuinely studying.
What a pleasant surprise!
While surprised, he was also quite curious about what had happened to make Zhong Muqing make such a big change.
"Teacher, have the exam results come out yet? I want to know how I did on the politics exam." Zhong Muqing asked earnestly.
"I just finished grading your paper, and you did quite well." Xu Ya picked up another of Duo's papers, flipped through it for a moment, and said, "78, a big improvement!"
"Amazing!" Lu Jie echoed in praise.
This score wouldn't be considered high in a regular class, but it's quite remarkable in a sports class.
After all, the college entrance examination for sports majors focuses on sports specialization, and the cutoff score is much lower than that for students taking only academic subjects.
Scores cannot be directly compared between regular classes and sports classes.
"Thank you, teacher," Zhong Muqing said politely, then immediately asked, "Has Lu Jie's result come out yet?"
"The papers for Class 3 haven't been graded yet," Xu Ya said, taking out the Class 3 test papers.
"Since I'm here, I'll also see how Lu Jie did on the exam."
As he spoke, he found Lu Jie's test paper and graded it question by question in front of the two of them, ultimately giving it a score of 82.
"Lu Jie, your progress is also very obvious, not bad!"
Lu Jie didn't react much after the scores were announced, but Zhong Muqing immediately beamed with joy.
Xu Ya glanced at their reactions, opened his computer, pulled up Zhong Muqing's score list, first encouraging her progress, and then reminded her:
"Zhong Muqing, you did better in science than humanities this time. The 10-year college entrance examination plan has not been finalized yet, but if the admission is still based on the separation of science and humanities, a lower score in humanities will still be a disadvantage."
Seeing that she only hummed in response, seemingly not taking his words to heart, he repeated:
"The sports major admits far fewer science students than arts students."
"Furthermore, science subjects will become increasingly difficult, while humanities subjects will be relatively easier and easier to score points on."
"Humanities are more suitable for sports students than sciences, and sports classes are usually assumed to follow the humanities path."
"You need to be careful about this."
......
As she left the office, Zhong Muqing, lost in thought, looked at Lu Jie and said:
"You'll be studying science in the future, right?"
"Yes," Lu Jie said. He was more interested in science and would definitely study science.
Zhong Muqing nodded: "Do you think I'm better off studying humanities or sciences?"
Lu Jie pondered for a moment, then said seriously:
"You are actually quite suited to science subjects. If you study hard, you can get higher scores than you can in humanities subjects."
Although Mr. Xu suggested that Zhong Muqing study humanities, he genuinely felt that she was more suited to science.
When he was helping Zhong Muqing catch up on her previous physics knowledge, Zhong Muqing knew almost nothing about physics.
It's not that I don't know it, it's that I'm completely unaware of many formulas and knowledge points.
He seriously doubted that Zhong Muqing had ever attended physics class before.
He originally thought that physics would likely be a major hindrance for her, as she wouldn't understand anything and it would take a long time to catch up.
Unexpectedly, she learned much faster than he had anticipated.
As long as she learns the knowledge points once and memorizes the formulas, she can understand and master them.
That's incredible!
If he hadn't seen her past report card, he would have thought she was just acting.
If you can do well in physics, you're unlikely to do poorly in math, chemistry, or biology either.
After all, they all test scientific thinking.
Zhong Muqing's math score wasn't particularly outstanding in this exam, which he figured was probably because she hadn't put much effort into it.
He even doubted some of the knowledge points because she hadn't learned them before and didn't know them at all.
Because I don't know, I can't do it.
It's not about knowing something but not understanding it and being unable to do it.
These are two completely different concepts.
If she didn't pursue her athletic talents and instead focused on her studies, he felt that Zhong Muqing could easily get into No. 1 Middle School.
However, considering that Zhong Muqing is also very good at sports, having achieved the title of National First-Class Athlete, and even having the opportunity to break through to an even higher level.
If you can pursue a career as a high-level athlete, that would be great too.
High-level athletes can only attend the top universities in the country, and they can freely choose their major after being admitted.
Even for No. 1 High School, the percentage of students admitted to top universities each year is not that high.
Even if high-level athletes don't get in through this route, they can still get into a good university with good athletic performance and decent academic grades, which is a safety net.
It's difficult to judge which is better or worse.
Regardless, judging from Zhong Muqing's current performance, she definitely has more potential in science than in humanities.
"Is that so... Since you suggest I study science, then I'll study science." Zhong Muqing raised the corners of her mouth and continued:
"I'd like you to continue tutoring me in the future."
Lu Jie sensed that she had misunderstood something again, and just as he was about to speak, he heard her continue:
"I won this competition!"
Lu Jie nodded silently. His total score was 728, and Zhong Muqing's total score was 737.
He did lose.
Although this result was unexpected, after all, he was ahead in all nine subjects except English and physics.
As for English and physics, he did think that Zhong Muqing might be ahead.
He just didn't expect Zhong Muqing's English score to be so much higher than his.
Or to put it another way, unexpectedly, one English class brought down all his advantages.
This was the first time he had so clearly realized how much a subject he was severely unbalanced in could hold him back.
But the loss was not unjust, and it also had value.
"I'll promise you something. Have you thought about what it is?"
He looked at Zhong Muqing and said.
