Chapter 86 Xia Jie
The apartment door wasn't sturdy and rattled loudly when it was slammed against.
The old apartment door finally gave way and was roughly pried open.
Three men wearing floral shirts, with faces painted with dragons and tigers, and full of fierce expressions, barged in. The one in the lead had a scar on his face and his fierce eyes scanned the room before finally settling on Tokugawa Koji, who was standing there dumbfounded.
The room was empty except for Tokugawa Koji, who looked rather dull-witted.
"Yo, Tokugawa-san, so you're here." The scarred man grinned, revealing his smoky, yellowed teeth. "Hiding at home counting your money, huh? It's time to pay back what you owe the Yamaguchi-gumi, isn't it?"
"Big brother," Tokugawa Koji forced a fawning smile, but his body involuntarily took a half-step back, "Just—just a few more days, and I promise—"
"Grace period? I've already given you a month's grace!" Scarface interrupted him impatiently, stepping forward and grabbing Tokugawa Koji by the collar. "Do you know what kind of world this is? Money is getting harder and harder to earn! Our boss said we have to see the money today, or else—"
He swept his unfriendly gaze across Tokugawa Koji's shabby apartment, seemingly trying to estimate what valuable items could be used to pay off the debt. Finally, his gaze fell on an old watch on Tokugawa Koji's wrist, a keepsake left by Tokugawa Koji's father.
"This watch looks like it might be worth some money," Scarface said, reaching out to take it.
"No! This won't do!" Tokugawa Koji struggled violently, like a cat whose tail had been stepped on. This was his only remaining hope. His fear was overshadowed by a sudden surge of anger and despair, and he clutched his wrist tightly.
"Damn it! You dare to resist?" A thug next to him cursed and raised his foot to kick Tokugawa Koji in the stomach.
Just as the kick was about to land, the thug fell straight down, as if his soul had been instantly ripped out!
"You seem to be in a bit of trouble!" A fierce and domineering voice rang out.
Everyone looked over at the sound and saw a tall, strong man with his head slightly raised, his eyes bright and piercing, looking at everything indifferently, like a king inspecting his kingdom.
"Who do you think you are? Stop playing tricks on me!"
"What's your relationship with Tokugawa Koji?"
Seeing his partner suddenly acting strangely, the thug contacted the person who had suddenly appeared, thinking that it was related to him, and questioned him sternly!
They are, after all, a gang, and gangsters value face above all else. No matter the situation, they can't back down! Because gang society is essentially a wolf pack society, where the strong fight for food, and if you show even a hint of weakness, you'll be seen as a weakling!
"Insects, die!" This man, who suddenly appeared like a supreme ruler, spoke. His tone was extremely domineering, as if he weren't even human!
Words become law! This was said immediately!
These three gang members met the same fate! Tokugawa Koji, horrified, placed his finger under the other man's nostrils; sure enough, he was no longer breathing!
He broke out in a cold sweat, and without any backbone, he knelt down and trembled as he spoke:
'
"Welcome to my humble abode, sir! May I ask what brings you here?"
"Oh! Aren't you curious about who I am?"
"The adults who should know will tell, and the little ones who shouldn't know dare not be curious!" Tokugawa Koji said humbly, he didn't want to know at all.
Based on how this formidable figure takes lives as easily as killing chickens the moment he appears, how could he be a decent character?
Curiosity is human nature, but it can also kill the cat!
"You don't dare? Then you're just curious!"
The voice was exactly the same as that of his father, who had suddenly appeared and pretended to be dead, and the Onmyoji Abe Gentoki. Tokugawa Koji felt a chill run down his spine! So the person who helped him deal with the debt collectors was that strange being from before!
The three gangsters died instantly, without even a chance to resist or scream. This power was beyond his comprehension, leaving only pure, bone-deep fear.
"My lord, your divine might is unparalleled, I dare not presume to even begin to speculate." Tokugawa Koji's voice trembled violently, each word seeming to be squeezed out from between his teeth.
"Raise your head, you ant."
Tokugawa Hiroshi cautiously raised his head, but dared not look directly at the other person, his gaze only falling on those spotless black boots.
"You lowly ant, why don't you try to guess why I'm seeking you out!"
Countless thoughts churned in his chaotic mind: Was it because he had come into contact with the Mountain and Sea Realm? Was it because his hidden resentment and unwillingness had been detected? Or was he just an unlucky one who had been chosen?
He dared not voice any of his guesses. In the end, he could only lower his head even further, his voice filled with absolute humility: "I am foolish and ignorant, and truly do not know why Your Excellency would favor such a lowly ant. But I will obey Your Excellency's orders—I would gladly die for it."
"This world is changing. The mediocre will be eliminated, and only those who seize power will survive. You are willing to be my dog, so I grant you the right to live!" The other person's voice seemed to carry some ancient rhythm, striking directly at the soul, filled with intense confidence and even arrogance.
"Such a small place has tens of millions of people. I will make them all my subjects and slaves. I will become the sun on earth. From now on, you are the first slave of the Xia Kingdom!" His tone made it seem as if becoming a slave was a blessing for Tokugawa Koji.
Tokugawa Koji wasn't particularly uncomfortable with becoming a slave; after all, he was at the mercy of others.
However, from these few words, Tokugawa Koji had an absurd idea.
The idea was utterly absurd, but considering the terrifying strength and undeniable domineering aura displayed by the opponent, it didn't seem entirely impossible. After all, even something as outrageous as gods and Onmyoji had appeared; this idea, perhaps—wasn't so unimaginable after all?
"Raise your head and look me straight in the eyes!"
Tokugawa Koji forced himself to lift his trembling head, and his gaze finally met those eyes. What eyes they were! Bright and piercing, yet devoid of any human warmth or pity, only endless tyranny, arrogance, domineering power, and a cold indifference to the world, taking whatever they wanted from it.
It seemed that in his eyes, both Tokugawa Koji and the millions of people in this bustling city were nothing more than resources and playthings waiting for him to conquer and enslave.
He compared himself to the sun, the Xia Dynasty, and slaves, displaying an arrogant attitude of having the power of life and death like a monarch, and treating people as less than human.
All clues point to the same result, even if that result seems absurd.
"I am King Xia, Jie!" Xia Jie seemed to see through the terror churning in Tokugawa Koji's heart, a cold and arrogant smile curving his lips, devoid of any warmth. "To be my first slave after my resurrection, what an honor! Now that I have returned, all things in this world must bow down!"
Xia Jie directly acknowledged Tokugawa Koji's conjecture, which made Tokugawa Koji feel that it was outrageous!
