Chapter 27 The Appearance of Home
Chapter 27 The Appearance of Home
“Of course, you’re always welcome to visit my home.” Lezhi responded to Leyou’s words with sincerity, a sentiment that came from the bottom of his heart. “However, do all of us live on vines?”
"Yes, you could say that. Come on, let's go inside and take a look!"
The two's nonsensical conversation somehow connected smoothly. Watching Leyou approach the vines with cheerful steps, Lezhi's mood was as heavy as her steps.
At this moment, images of various animals living on vines began to flash through his mind, and he equated them with his future life. Good, after this journey through time, it's time to return to one's natural instincts.
"Lezhi, what's wrong? Why do you look like that?" Leyou, who had already reached the vines, noticed Lezhi's slow movements and realized that Lezhi seemed to have a troubled expression.
"Um, Leyou, do we really have to live on the vines? Actually, I'm not very good at climbing trees..."
The sound grew softer and softer. When Lezhi saw Leyou's suddenly shocked expression, he realized a beat too late that he might have misunderstood something.
"Climbing a tree? Why climb a tree? Could it be... pfft, ahahaha..." Sure enough, after realizing what Lezhi was talking about, Leyou almost instantly doubled over with laughter. "Haha... you're so good at making connections! Freshmen really do have lots of ideas~"
Leyou finally finished laughing and patted Lezhi's head. He took Lezhi's hand and placed it on the vine. Before Lezhi could ask, he guided her, "Come on, feel the connection between you and the vine, and then tell it you want to go home."
"Ah, oh..."
After realizing that she had been daydreaming, Lezhi became well-behaved after being teased. She followed Leyou's instructions and did exactly what was asked, resolutely refusing to let her own thoughts interfere.
Just as Lezhi placed her hand on the rattan, the thought of going home flashing through her mind, the rattan beneath her hand began to move as if it had come alive. Startled, Lezhi involuntarily took two steps back and hugged the fur ball in her arms tightly.
The vines meandered and flowed, creating an entrance large enough for two people to enter. Lezhi looked at this scene in surprise, then turned to look at Leyou, who was still smiling.
Receiving Lezhi's gaze, Leyou gestured an invitation, "Come on in, this is your home, please go first..."
Lezhi's heart skipped a beat when Leyou said "your home," and realizing what Leyou meant, Lezhi's heart started pounding faster again.
As if sensing Lezhi's suddenly quickened heartbeat, Maoqiu spoke up to comfort him. Finding Lezhi hesitant, Maoqiu jumped from Lezhi's arms to his shoulder, then rubbed its fur against Lezhi's cheek, seemingly to encourage him.
Comforted by his friends, Lezhi took a deep breath and, with Leyou's encouraging gaze, stepped into his "home".
Entering the interior space made of vines, Lezhi looked around. With each sight, she felt a growing sense of surprise, and by the end, her heart was filled with an increasingly strong excitement.
The house has a clear layout. Upon entering, there is a large living room, and all the furniture inside is made of vines. Except for the lack of electrical appliances, it is almost exactly the same as the house that Lezhi had once dreamed of.
Next to the living room is a kitchen with a wooden island and a full set of cabinets. Although it is currently empty, it will be a perfect kitchen once some kitchen utensils are added.
"Wow, this is really nice, Lezhi. I've never seen a house like this before." As Leyou entered, the entrance, which was spread out by vines, gradually closed.
Although the house now lacks windows and doors for natural light, it is not dimly lit; in fact, it is quite bright. Upon closer inspection, it was discovered that the natural patterns on the vines themselves emit light, illuminating the interior space. The entire room is lit by these ubiquitous patterns, creating an effect comparable to the trendy no-main-light designs of my previous life.
Leyou tried sitting on the wicker recliner in the living room and exclaimed with enjoyment, "Mmm, this is so comfortable. Ah, Lezhi, how did you come up with this? I want to get one when I get back."
"Hehe, that's exactly what I was thinking." Lezhi laughed it off and continued exploring the room.
Upon entering, one sees a large living room and kitchen, but given the space created by the vines, there's definitely more than this on one floor. Lezhi placed her hand on the wall and walked along it throughout the living room, finally discovering a hidden door.
Just as he expected! Lezhi smiled; he knew it. After seeing the interior design, he realized that Wumu Teng seemed to have designed the house according to his own ideas. If that was the case, he would definitely have separated the living area from the rest area in his mind. Lezhi had imagined his dream house countless times, and hidden doors were one of his favorite elements.
Pushing open the hidden door, the space behind the house came into view. After passing through the beautifully designed washroom and dressing room, Lezhi and Leyou, who was following behind him, finally arrived at the bedroom.
The bedroom wasn't very large, and the big bed against the wall in the middle of the room was the most eye-catching feature. The bed was also made of woven vines, with vines thoughtfully growing dense leaves on the bed surface to serve as a mattress.
"Wow wow wow..." Upon seeing the bed that looked very soft, Leyou's eyes lit up as he circled the bed, pressed down on it with his hand, and tested the softness of the bed.
With gaps created by woven vines to cushion the bedding, the entire bed is not hard, but rather has a resilient elasticity that feels very comfortable to the touch.
"Is this a bed? My mother tree, how did you think of doing this? It's such a big bed, it must be so comfortable to sleep in at night, so wonderful~"
"Huh, Leyou, don't you guys sleep in beds at night?" Seeing Leyou's curious look, Lezhi was curious about what the tree spirits' daily lives were like.
"Yes, we all sleep in hammocks. Some people have tried sleeping directly on the platform, but it's very hard." After explaining, Leyou continued to press on the bed, seemingly enjoying the feel of his hands.
"Oh, I see..." Yuezhi understood. That's just a hard bed.
After exploring the private bedroom, Lezhi followed the wall and found another hidden entrance—a staircase leading upwards. They went upstairs to a large, open space with a row of chairs along one wall and a swing that Lezhi had been longing for on the other side.
As Leyou, still marveling at the swing, tried it out again, Lezhi looked around the space, a thought suddenly struck her, and she reached out to touch the wall where the seat hadn't grown out. As if receiving a command, the vines automatically parted, revealing the scenery outside to both of them.
What was originally just an empty resting place has instantly been transformed into a viewing terrace. Within sight are distant mountains and streams, and the terrace window faces the direction from which the swing takes off.
Leyou was swinging on the swing when suddenly the colors in front of him changed. As the swing swung higher and the sky in front of him rose, he felt as if he was spreading his wings and flying.
Just now, Leyou was about to ask Lezhi why he would put such a swing in his home, but now he doesn't need Lezhi's answer; the scenery in front of him has already given him the answer.
