Chapter 144 The Growth History of the Beastman Continent's Cubs
After choosing a place to stay, Ye immediately put down his luggage and released Ye Yin and Ye Qing. Because it was inconvenient to carry them on his back all day, he would release the two little snakes to roam around as soon as they arrived at their destination.
Linni isn't afraid of them anymore. The two "little snakes" have grown to nearly two meters long, and they're less than thirty days old! After emerging, the two little snakes circled Linni a few times, always trying to coil around her. However, after being pushed away so many times, they now know they can't coil around her and will only rub against her feet. They usually stay near Linni for a few minutes before running off, so it's necessary to keep an eye on them at night, lest they disappear into some corner. Hiding isn't the problem; the real fear is being eaten by other wild animals.
The mortality rate for orc cubs is highest before the age of two. They understand nothing and just run around aimlessly. After two, they become more sensible and won't stray too far from their father or mother. By three, they can generally hunt and eat small animals within the tribe (whether it's possible that one- or two-year-old cubs were caught and eaten is unknown). At this point, they will settle down near their mother's dwelling and rarely return to disturb her life (mainly because her other mates don't like being disturbed!). However, the weaker ones, unable to catch prey, will still return to their father for food. After five, they are no longer a concern; the only animals to care for are the weaker ones. Most cubs will then take human form between the ages of ten and twelve. Taking human form signifies adulthood, and they begin to find mates, mostly within the tribe, depending on where their mate prefers to live. Males generally live with females.
Most females live to around sixty years old, with their lifespan increasing slightly as their level rises, but never exceeding one hundred. Males, on the other hand, have shorter lifespans (except for special races like the tortoise-like beastmen), perhaps because their lives are too arduous?
All of this knowledge was taught to Linni by them along the way; otherwise, she really wouldn't know anything.
While Linni played and fed the two little snakes, everyone started tidying up their temporary home. Yao, Yan, and Bai first cleaned the tree hole, and then put away the items they needed.
Because Lin Ni never let Xuan He handle her luggage, after they learned that Lin Ni needed to take a bath every day, they would immediately go and fetch bathwater for her as soon as they stopped.
Along the way, everyone had gotten used to the two of them being so attentive. Once Yao had finished getting ready, he heated up the bathwater so she could have a nice hot bath.
Lin Ni also washed her hair. After braiding it for so long, she could finally let her scalp relax for a couple of days. More than two hundred days had passed, and her hair had grown longer than her chest. She was thinking of cutting it short, but it seemed that the others all liked her long hair, so she decided not to cut it for now.
Lin Ni dried her hair until it was half dry, combed it, and then took Yao's hand. She, Bai, and Yan left the tree hollow together, while Ye stayed behind to watch over Ye Yin and Ye Qing, as usual. Xuan and Ling were already waiting for them outside the tree hollow. As soon as the six of them gathered, Su flew down from a large tree on the side. It was obvious that he had been waiting for them all along.
Su smiled at Lin and said, "Lin, are you getting ready to go to the bonfire party?"
Linni nodded: "Yes."
Su said happily, "Please come with me."
Su led the six people towards the center of the tribe, where it was already bustling with people. Around each campfire sat a dozen or so people, and the entire tribe was filled with the aroma of food. The Eagle Beast Tribe members sat together, chatting and eating, and singing some kind of folk song. A woman was leading the singing; she sang a line, and then everyone echoed it, just like a scene from the classic movie "Liu Sanjie."
As Linni followed Luo toward the center of the square, she observed the campfires and noticed that each campfire had only one or two females. Apart from the one or two males beside her who were her partners, the rest were all single beastmen. It seemed that no matter which tribe, the campfire party was a large-scale matchmaking party!
Su led Linni to sit down around a campfire. Unsurprisingly, ten single orcs were already seated there, including Luo and Ahe, who had come to fetch them to the Eagle Beast Tribe. As soon as Linni sat down, the orcs offered her various foods: roasted meat, roasted stalks, fruit, and roasted nuts. Linni even saw roasted corn! She hadn't eaten corn since arriving here, and couldn't resist reaching out to take it. The corn cob was as long as one of her arms, roasted to a golden brown and fragrant color. Seeing her take the corn, Luo happily squeezed in and said, "Lin, this is wheat unique to our tribe. Try it! If you like it, I'll go pick some more for you."
Lin Ni smiled and leaned closer to Yao: "Okay, I'll try it first."
Yao and Bai accepted all the food offered to them so that it wouldn't seem so unusual for Lin Ni to be eating only one male's food. Yao said, "Lin is hungry, let her eat something first."
The single beastmen glanced at Yao, knowing he was Linni's first partner. If the males behind them wanted to mate with a female, unless they were particularly powerful or especially favored by that female, they usually had to go through some tests from her previous partners. So everyone returned to their seats, but still looked at Linni with bright eyes. You should know that the single beastmen who could sit here had all fought fiercely for their seats!
Bai and Yao sat on either side of Lin Ni as usual, Yan sat next to Bai, and Xuan and Ling sat next to Yao. Luo then sat next to Yan, which was the closest seat the male members of the Eagle Beast tribe could get to Lin Ni. As Luo watched Lin Ni eat, he introduced her to the various foods of their tribe.
Linni was starting to get used to being stared at by so many single beastmen wherever she went. These beastmen were fairly friendly; although they kept looking at her and often tried to get her attention, they weren't like the beastmen from the Vulture Tribe, who seemed ready to pounce and do something to her at any moment. That was fine; she could tolerate being looked at like that.
After the woman finished singing, the tribe quieted down a bit, with only the sounds of people talking and chatting remaining. Because it was so noisy, Linni couldn't hear what she was singing.
But after a short while, another woman with dark skin and big eyes stood up. She smiled and said loudly, "Hello everyone, I am Wei from the Falcon Beast Tribe! Let me sing a song for you!"
The beastmen at the bonfire party shouted in unison, "Yes!" Many of the males even whistled. The female named Wei began to sing, the melody somewhat similar to that of the previous female.
