Chapter 3 Encountering Danger in the Forest
Chapter 3 Encountering Danger in the Forest
Lin Ni ate the red cherry in her hand in a few bites. The cherry tasted like a cherry, and the pit was also shaped like a cherry pit. Such a big cherry, what great luck! You know, cherries the size of a coin cost seventy or eighty yuan per pound! This cherry, as big as a child's fist, must cost several hundred yuan per pound! The bright red cherries are the best, crisp and crunchy. The purplish-red ones are a bit too sweet and soft, they probably won't last long.
Linni took a bag out of her backpack and started filling it with cherries. After filling it halfway with bright red cherries, she noticed a snake on the cherry tree! The green snake was as thick as her wrist, coiled among the branches. Linni's heart pounded. She didn't dare scream. While the snake wasn't looking at her, she slowly backed away from the cherry tree, facing the green snake, until she was about ten meters away before turning and running. How terrifying! There probably aren't many girls who aren't afraid of snakes, especially such a thick green one.
Linni stopped running only when she felt it was safe enough. After walking for six hours and running for so long, she felt like her legs were about to give out.
Lin Ni rested for a while, finishing the water in her aluminum sealed cup. She ate something else, and then the sun finally rose directly overhead. She took out her phone, saw it still had two bars of battery, set the time to noon, took a few more photos, and then turned it off and put it away. Next, she had to set off to find water. Some of her hiking companions were classmates; they had done some research beforehand and roughly knew how to find water, but she wasn't sure if it would work. Lin Ni dug some mud from the ground and looked at it; it seemed quite damp, and judging by the dense vegetation, the area shouldn't lack water. She lay down and listened; sure enough, she heard the sound of flowing water. After determining the direction, she confidently headed towards the sound.
She had only walked for about ten minutes when she heard the roars of wild beasts. Judging from the volume, there were several of them, and the powerful roars indicated they were formidable creatures, likely large predators like tigers or bears, engaged in combat. What bad luck! She had just escaped the snake's jaws, and now she was facing wild beasts again! The direction of the fight was directly towards the water source. Lin Ni hesitated for a long time, but ultimately decided that her life was more important than the water.
Lin Ni slowly backed away, taking more than ten steps before turning around to run, only to find a black bear about ten meters to her side! The black bear had obviously seen Lin Ni long ago, and it was drooling over her! Their eyes met, and the black bear roared as it charged at Lin Ni.
Linni could no longer contain herself and screamed, "Ah—!" Terrified, her face was ashen, her heart pounding with fear, and her legs went weak, making it almost impossible for her to stand. But her survival instinct spurred her to turn and run for her life. However, how could she possibly outrun this poised black bear? After only a dozen steps, she felt a strong, pungent stench coming from behind her. The smell made her nauseous and simultaneously alerted her to the imminent danger.
In this life-or-death moment, Linni unleashed astonishing strength. She lunged forward and to the right, dodging the black bear's attack with incredible speed. At the same time, she crashed heavily to the ground, rolling several meters away, temporarily escaping danger.
Lin Ni, panting heavily, turned around and saw a huge white tiger fiercely fighting with a black bear. The white tiger exuded a powerful aura, its fangs sharp and pointed, engaging in a breathtaking battle with the black bear, their attacks and bites extremely ferocious.
Lin Ni pressed her hand to her heart, which was pounding in her chest, and slowly sat up, trying to take the opportunity to escape. But she suddenly noticed a white tiger standing beside her! Lin Ni's heart stopped pounding violently for a moment, and she thought she was about to be devoured by the tiger.
The white tiger, which had been silently watching her, growled softly at Lin Ni when it saw her looking at it with a panicked expression: "Awoo—"
Lin Ni actually heard a soothing meaning in his shouts? Lin Ni felt like she was daydreaming again. She looked at the two fighting beasts again and saw that the white tiger had killed the black bear. Then the white tiger dragged the black bear in front of Lin Ni and looked at her with its wet tiger eyes.
Lin Ni… if she wasn't mistaken, this white tiger looked just like the tabby cat her family had a few years ago. Was that a look of seeking praise? Lin Ni's family had a tabby cat when she was in junior high school. It had a white face and belly, and it was incredibly affectionate towards her. It would fawn over her and even feign pitifulness, which she adored. But one summer, after she took it back to her rural hometown, it disappeared, and she was heartbroken for a long time. Suppressing her fear, she forced a smile at the large white tiger: "Y-hello!"
The large white tiger growled at her, "Awoo—", then moved closer to Lin Ni and licked her face with its tongue, much to her horror. Lin Ni nearly fell over from the lick. She sat up straight, glancing at the two large white tigers looking at her with adorable expressions, and wiped the drool from her face—it didn't smell bad. Confirming that the two white tigers meant her no harm and had even saved her life, she looked at them gratefully, reached out and ruffled the head of the tiger that had licked her, and smiled, "Thank you, big white tiger!"
Another white tiger came over, and Lin Ni, afraid it would lick her too, quickly reached out to touch its head: "Thank you too!"
Just then, the white tiger, who had fought the black bear, turned and lay down in front of her, looking at Lin Ni and then at its own back. Lin Ni looked at it and asked, "Shall I sit on your back?"
"Awoo—" the white tiger growled softly, then looked at its back. Linni slowly got up and climbed onto its back. Only then did she notice several wolves and a yellow tiger watching them from a distance. The white tiger seemed to sense her fear and roared at the surrounding beasts, "Awoo—"
This must have been a warning, because the wolves and the yellow tiger turned and ran away after hearing it. Only then did Linni realize she wasn't just having bad luck, but was actually terrified, thinking: "I've been so lucky not to encounter any wild beasts all morning!"
The white tiger first took a few slow steps, then ran faster and faster, eventually galloping through the dense forest. Linni lay on the white tiger's back, hugging it tightly, looking back at the tall trees gradually receding into the distance, while another white tiger dragged the black bear behind. They ran for about an hour before finally emerging from the dense primeval forest. Linni felt very tired, and seeing the white tiger carrying her as they began to climb the mountain, she lay down on its back and slowly fell asleep.
