Chapter 392 - 385: He Has to Hurry Up

Back then, Clara had also loved this ointment. She said its scent was unique, and wearing it made her feel special.

So, she would put it on for any little scrape. She practically used it as a perfume.

Recalling all these things from the past, Cedric Grant couldn’t help but feel a pang of nostalgia, but that nostalgia was quickly followed by a wave of intense disgust.

Back when Skylar Hayes was violated, he refused to believe she didn’t have even the slightest inkling! Perhaps she had known perfectly well that she had been defiled but hid the truth from him. Perhaps she had known all along that Clara Grant wasn’t his biological daughter, yet she let him play the fool for over twenty years!

Over twenty years! The thought made Cedric Grant’s gut churn with a rage he had nowhere to vent.

That’s why, looking back, Jean Jarvis was better. While she couldn’t compare to Skylar Hayes in education or temperament, at least the child she bore was his own flesh and blood.

Fortunately, Clara Grant was useful now—very useful. He could consider it compensation for the twenty-odd years he’d spent raising her.

At this thought, Cedric Grant felt his confidence in the Grant Family’s future swell.

And so, he forced down the wicked fire in his gut and turned to look at Skylar Hayes. By now, she had finished sweeping up the glass shards and had come out of the kitchen after washing her hands.

"This ointment is as good as ever," Cedric Grant said with a smile. "Skylar, it looks like your foot got burned too. Let me put some on for you."

"No, thank you!" Skylar Hayes’s reply was firm. ’We’re divorced, so why is he suddenly showing up and trying to be so attentive? Has looking for his next conquest while he’s still with someone become a habit for him?’

Cedric Grant looked awkward and placed the ointment on a nearby cabinet. "Alright then. I’ll get going."

Before Skylar Hayes had a chance to speak, her phone rang.

She glanced at Cedric Grant, giving him a look that said he could leave, then picked up her phone. Seeing it was Seth Quinn, she answered, "Hello, Seth."

Cedric Grant was just about to leave when he heard her say "Seth." He immediately pulled his foot back and pricked up his ears to listen intently.

"...Aren’t you and Clara at your family’s home now? Why are you calling me?" Skylar Hayes continued.

On the other end of the line, Seth Quinn heard her and knew instantly that Clara Grant hadn’t gone home. Feigning that all was well, he made an excuse, "Yes, Mom. Clara was worried about you, so she asked me to give you a call."

"I’m home now, so you don’t need to worry about me. Just have Clara keep your parents company."

"Okay, Mom. I’m hanging up now." With that, Seth Quinn ended the call.

Skylar Hayes had just taken the phone from her ear when she saw Cedric Grant leaning in close again. "Was that Seth on the phone?"

Startled by his sudden movement, Skylar Hayes composed herself and said, "Why are you still here? Excuse me, but I have things to do."

The meaning was clear: I’m busy. You should leave.

Cedric Grant had no choice but to leave. The moment he stepped out, the door was immediately shut behind him by Skylar Hayes.

He turned back to look at the closed door, recalling what Skylar Hayes had just said.

’So, Clara Grant went with Seth Quinn to the Quinn family’s home today? They’ve already had the formal meeting with the parents? Does that mean their relationship is official now?’

’It seems I need to hurry up and mend my relationship with Skylar Hayes.’

As he thought this, Cedric Grant looked back at the closed door again. ’So what if I was kicked out? Of course I won’t give up. I will make Skylar Hayes submit to me again.’
