Chapter 391 - 228: Gaining a Foothold in the Sect (Part 2)
"This is all pretty good." Su Chen glanced around, quite satisfied.
Wan Chen escorted them here, exchanged contact information with Su Chen, and then turned to leave.
Ming Lin would naturally be living with him on this Floating Island. He proactively took on the responsibility of managing the mechanical bodies.
Seeing this, Su Chen didn’t know what Chong Jingtian had told Ming Lin, so he simply said, "You should focus on your training. There aren’t many chores to worry about."
"Don’t worry, I won’t fall behind," Ming Lin said with a smile.
Su Chen opened his Wristband, quickly registered Ming Lin’s physical features, and searched for permissions he could grant.
"Servant—activity is restricted to a fixed area. If discovered outside of it, they will be captured and returned."
"Attendant—cannot approach core areas; will be expelled..."
After searching for a while, Su Chen finally found a suitable permission: "Agent: Possesses a portion of the primary user’s permissions. All commands requiring permission will be logged."
"I’m going to take a look around outside and get the lay of the land," Ming Lin said.
The Bronze Sect was ancient and complex. Even though he could look up information at any time, the sheer volume of text was as vast as a sea of smoke; it wasn’t something one could grasp in a moment.
Besides, he believed that even in a place like the Bronze Sect, there were many shady dealings that couldn’t be found just by looking up official records.
"Alright." Su Chen watched Ming Lin leave before heading into the main building to look around.
There was a dedicated training room here. The Spiritual Pressure Ring was convenient because it could be carried around.
But the training room here was far more sophisticated, capable of simulating almost any training environment and its required elements.
It could even perform deep scans of the body to identify flaws and shortcomings in the execution of one’s Training Technique.
There were also practice rooms, a kitchen, and a Potion storage room—it had everything.
’I’ve finally established a foothold.’
Su Chen finished his tour and returned to the training room. It was spacious, with the walls, floor, and even the ceiling all covered in silvery-white metal panels.
He adjusted the gravity multiplier and various other settings. Once he was more or less satisfied, he opened his communication Wristband again.
As a Star Seed, he didn’t lack any of the standard perks, such as a dedicated profession analysis team.
’I probably won’t get much use out of this. I have a whole pile of professions, and I can’t possibly tell them about all of them.’
There was also a Potion supply that would be replenished based on his consumption.
’It’s enough to get by, but I can’t ask for any extra.’
Su Chen understood the reasoning. It was to prevent people from exploiting the Sect’s loopholes to resell Potions on a large scale.
There were also food provisions and other such things; the benefits were numerous.
After a brief overview, Su Chen’s gaze landed on the so-called Holy Hall rankings. His data had been updated, but he didn’t have a specific rank.
"Please proceed to the ’Challenge Center’ to undergo initial placement and establish your rank."
Su Chen read the instructions with some surprise. He scrolled a bit more before it all made sense.
The ranking system was primarily based on combat, but not against other people. Instead, you fought against training projections.
For the initial placement, he would face a special training projection against which he could unleash his full power. The system would then assign an appropriate rank based on his comprehensive strength and various other data points from the rankings.
After being ranked, if he wanted to challenge someone stronger, he would face their training projection as well. This saved time and prevented blood feuds from developing.
The people on the rankings were almost constantly issuing challenges, either to hone their skills or to climb higher, so the data collected by the training projections was extremely comprehensive.
The margin for error was very small. Someone had run an experiment: if two people with consecutive ranks fought a hundred times, the chance of an upset wouldn’t exceed five.
’As for the rewards...’ Su Chen glanced over them. Depending on one’s rank, there were various rewards: Star Coins, special resources, or assistance in completing profession requirements, among many other things.
In short, the higher the rank, the better.
But what caught Su Chen’s eye was the special reward available only to the top 100.
’...Creation of Heaven and Earth...’
’This sounds incredible.’ Su Chen checked the detailed description.
"...use the power of the Creation of Heaven and Earth to assist in completing profession requirements..."
"Wait a minute..." Su Chen’s eyes widened. He read it again carefully and muttered, "To think something like this actually exists."
Profession requirements were bizarre and varied: self-harm, item collection, rituals, and so on. They were extremely complex, and some even had specific time limits.
The so-called Creation of Heaven and Earth used a special power to construct an environment equivalent to reality, allowing one to complete their profession requirements.
For example, Su Chen’s Word Spirit Law Master profession had the bizarre requirement of enacting laws and having people strictly enforce them—something that would normally take a very long time to complete.
But with this "Creation of Heaven and Earth," one could conjure a suitable environment out of thin air, complete with life forms, to satisfy the profession’s requirements.
And it wasn’t just a simple Illusion Realm; it was a "reality" that could genuinely satisfy the profession’s Pseudo-Spirituality verification.
It could even accelerate the flow of time within that environment. Its utility was truly formidable.
"Turning fiction into reality... Fucking incredible..." Su Chen couldn’t help but marvel.
Of course, this "Creation of Heaven and Earth" had its limitations. It could only create external environments and couldn’t affect requirements that involved one’s own body.
For requirements like collecting items to strengthen oneself, the Creation of Heaven and Earth fell short. Its primary use was for ritual- and environment-based requirements.
Even so, it was incredibly powerful, and the cost was naturally astronomical. Even those in the top 100 could only use it once a year.
The higher the rank, the more times they could use it.
’This is some seriously good stuff...’
After learning the details, a sharp glint appeared in Su Chen’s eyes. This ability was extremely useful to him. Others might wait until they faced their most difficult hurdle to use it, striving to ensure a flawless outcome.
After all, one use didn’t guarantee that the profession requirement would be completed on that attempt.
But he was different. He could use essences and Divine Power to influence his professions, weakening or even erasing their requirements. What remained was never very difficult to begin with.
With this thing to assist him, the time required would be shortened even further.
At this thought, Su Chen couldn’t help but grin, marveling aloud, "The Bronze Sect really lives up to its name."
’I wonder if the other Sects have similar abilities. It’s a good thing, too, since I’m after more than just one or two Holy Professions.’
He rubbed his hands together, eager to give it a try. ’I wonder what rank I’ll get for my initial placement.’
As he thought of this, he opened his interface again, his brow furrowed. ’But the number of essences I have is getting too low.’
Of these essences, he had two portions each of Crimson and Dark Plague left. But he only had one portion each of Faceless Ghost and Black Tuo, and the Cunning Fox essence was completely gone.
This was far from enough to support the immense needs of his Holy Professions.
’Deceitful God’s Power...’ He switched to another application, one with a shopping cart icon. It was the Sect’s internal exchange system.
You could use Star Coins and Contribution Points to exchange for various resources, but some rare items required a combination of both. He currently had neither.
But when he searched, he couldn’t find Deceitful God’s Power.
’This stuff is a forbidden resource within the Sect. It can’t be obtained casually.’
’Tsk... That’s a problem.’
Su Chen’s eyes glinted. Deceitful God’s Power was an absolute necessity; he had to find a stable source for it.
’Old Qing once said that if Deceitful God’s Power can be sold, it can naturally be bought. I’ll probably have to find the right channel, and I’ll need Star Coins...’
Su Chen rubbed his chin. He was a little broke at the moment.
’Netherworld Stone...’ He remembered a lead he’d already found and looked up the price of Netherworld Stones.
’They’re really not cheap. A single Child Stone costs a million Star Coins, and a Mother Stone is over ten million.’
He hadn’t been in the Dust Star Sea for long and had no real concept of a Star Coin’s value, so he looked up the price of a Tier Four training Potion for comparison.
A single bottle of a Body Refining Potion cost around ten to twenty thousand Star Coins.
’I think I still have a three billion Star Coin bounty on my head. It’s probably up to four billion by now...’
Su Chen was rendered speechless. He almost felt like turning himself in.
