Chapter 110 The Search for Clues
Chapter 110 The Search for Clues
Upon hearing the deep, thunderous roar in the cave, Jun Luochuan and Su Yao's nerves instantly tightened like bowstrings, each one filled with tension and vigilance.
"That sound is ominous, like the roar of a demon, as if it wants to devour us alive." Su Yao's voice trembled, like a candle flame flickering in the wind, and her hands unconsciously gripped Jun Luochuan's arm tightly, like a drowning person grasping at a straw.
Jun Luochuan took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down. Like a lighthouse in a storm, he forced himself to remain calm and said, "Don't be afraid, let's see how things go first. I'm here, nothing will happen to you." Although his voice was firm, a slight ripple couldn't help but stir within him.
They moved cautiously, like cats stalking the night, slowly making their way towards the direction of the sound. The luminous beads in their hands could only illuminate a small area in the boundless darkness; their faint light was like a small boat in a raging storm, seemingly vulnerable to being swallowed by the dark ocean at any moment.
As they walked, they discovered some messy footprints on the ground. The footprints were strangely shaped and did not appear to have been left by humans.
"What kind of monster could have left this? It looks like the footprints of a demon from hell, it's terrifying." Su Yao's eyes widened, her eyes were as big as copper bells, filled with doubt and fear, as if endless horror was hidden behind the footprints.
Jun Luochuan crouched down, examining the footprints carefully like a detective, his brows furrowed as if they were two intertwined ropes: "It's hard to judge, but one thing is certain: the guy who left these footprints is no good person, he must be an extremely dangerous being."
As you continue forward, strange scratches begin to appear on the cave walls. These scratches are deeply embedded in the stone, like hideous scars, as if they were caused by some unimaginably powerful force.
Su Yao couldn't help but speculate, her voice trembling like a withered leaf in the wind: "Could there have been some super powerful monsters fighting fiercely here? Like two ferocious beasts fighting to the death, leaving behind these terrible traces."
Jun Luochuan didn't answer. His mind was a jumbled mess, considering all the possible scenarios. Each possibility was like an unknown bomb, ready to explode at any moment.
Suddenly, they saw a faint light ahead, like a firefly.
"What is that? Could it be a glimmer of hope?" Su Yao asked in surprise, her voice filled with a hint of joy mixed with a touch of worry, as if the light were a tempting trap.
Jun Luochuan's eyes narrowed, sharp as arrows: "Go and take a look, but be careful."
Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be a stone emitting a faint glow, resembling a mysterious star, set alone in the darkness. The stone seemed to be engraved with symbols like ancient runes, exuding an aura of mystery.
Su Yao curiously reached out to touch it, her eagerness like that of a child who had seen a new and interesting toy.
Jun Luochuan reacted quickly, stopping him in time: "Don't move. Be careful of unknown dangers. This may be a deadly trap." His voice was urgent and stern, as if he were issuing a life-or-death order.
They studied the stone for a long time, like two scholars lost in a maze, trying to decipher the mysterious code, but still couldn't understand the meaning of the symbols.
"This clue is too mysterious, like a wordless book, leaving people completely baffled." Su Yao was somewhat dejected, her expression like a deflated balloon, her head drooping.
Just then, Jun Luochuan suddenly felt a cold aura coming from behind him, an aura as sinister as a ghost.
"Something's approaching!" he shouted, his voice filled with tension. He pulled Su Yao up and quickly retreated, his movements as agile as a cheetah.
A figure slowly emerged from the darkness; it was a mysterious old man. His face was weathered, but his eyes were piercing and insightful, as if he could see through everything.
The old man stared intently at them, his gaze like two torches, scorching their souls: "Why have you come here? This is not a place for you to tread."
Jun Luochuan answered cautiously, his voice steady and powerful: "We are following a clue in a letter, and in order to find the truth, we have no choice but to risk coming here."
The old man sneered, his laughter like a cold wind in the night, sending chills down one's spine: "Hmph, overconfident young people. You think you can solve this age-old mystery with just a surge of enthusiasm? That's wishful thinking."
Su Yao said defiantly, her expression like that of a stubborn little lion: "We're not afraid. As long as we persevere, we'll definitely find the answer. Don't underestimate us."
The old man glanced at her, a hint of disdain in his eyes: "This is not a place you can just wander into. It's full of danger and the unknown; one wrong step and you're doomed."
Jun Luochuan said, his tone sincere and firm: "Please give us some guidance, senior. We know the road ahead is difficult, but we have no way out. We earnestly request your help."
The old man remained silent for a moment, as if weighing something.
"Very well, considering your commendable courage, I'll tell you something. The symbols on this stone are related to a ruin in the valley. But that ruin is also fraught with danger, so you'd better be careful." After saying that, the old man disappeared like smoke, leaving Jun Luochuan and Su Yao standing there, looking at each other in bewilderment.
"This old man is so mysterious, he can't even explain things clearly," Su Yao muttered, her little mouth pouting high, full of dissatisfaction.
Jun Luochuan seemed lost in thought, like a philosopher deep in contemplation: "No matter what, let's go find that ruin first. Even if it's a mountain of knives and a sea of fire ahead, we have to brave it."
So they continued their groping search for an exit within the cave, preparing to journey to the mysterious ruins and uncover the secrets hidden in the darkness...
