Chapter 32 - 31: Grass Rabbit Paste_1
"Okay, it’s our fault for being careless this time. The shock you experienced was entirely our mistake."
Ge Yunshan didn’t want to listen to the reasons or consequences, he just wanted to rectify this troublesome situation as quickly as possible.
As he maintained his awkward smile, he dug around in his pocket with his muscular arm.
Eventually, he pulled out three small bottles, each as wide as two fingers, with a slender white body.
"These are high-priced substances carefully crafted by alchemists, available in the market."
"Snake Heart Pills, made using the heart of a black-hearted snake and possessing strong detoxification abilities."
"Bear Kidney Pills, a general vitality pill effective for both humans and animal spirits. For a savage Fond Spirit in the prime of their lives, two pills can be taken at a time. Other ordinary Fond Spirits, or adult humans, should take at most one."
"Grass Rabbit Paste, a medicine synthesized by a mentor who manages a D-level position ’The Farm Owner’ after successful reproduction of chewing rabbits. It significantly promotes wound healing."
"Please note that Grass Rabbit Paste appears only in the form of a pill. In actual use, it needs to be crushed and applied to the wound."
"Absolutely no ingestion! The last person who did this passed stool for seven days and almost had his intestines fall out!"
"And also, try not to use it for the Fond Spirits. Grass Rabbit Paste is more suitable for humans - the Fond Spirits will struggle to absorb its medicinal properties, which is a terrible waste..."
"Is this for us... to choose freely?"
Jiang Haowen collected his thoughts and hesitated to ask.
"Yes, it’s a slight apology from us. Please don’t refuse."
"Discuss between yourselves, one per person. This way I can clear my conscience."
Jiang Meng and Jiang Haowen exchanged glances, their eyes landing simultaneously on Ye Hanjun.
"Then I won’t stand on ceremony."
Ye Hanjun disliked prevarication and directly chose the Grass Rabbit Paste.
He put it casually in his pocket, gestured, then left in the direction they had arrived from.
"I am in a hurry, if there is nothing else, I will go ahead."
"Hey!" Jiang Meng tried to stop him:
"Han, I feel like I can’t accept this gift..."
"You saved my life, why don’t you take another bottle? Otherwise I just can’t bear it..."
"No need, you keep it."
Ye Hanjun didn’t pause his steps, his dashing figure even drew second glances from Ge Yunshan and Zhang Xinyu.
"Oh, okay..."
With an attracted gaze, Jiang Meng wondered if the new classmate was... mysterious and aloof?
Jiang Haowen opened his mouth, but couldn’t find the words to call out.
Being a student at Canghai Pavilion for a year, loosing the label of being a freshman and shifting to the status of a senior.
But he felt that his words, actions, and mindset seemed completely unpredictable.
"I should find out about him... what his background is."
"Could he be a young master from a certain family, acting like a pig to catch a tiger?"
"But that’s not right, he doesn’t even have a contracted Fond Spirit. There’s no logic to this!"
...
Having shaken off the Jiang siblings, Ye Hanjun’s stride lightened just a touch.
His initial interest was the Solitary Shadow Wolf, but unfortunately, he still couldn’t bear the idea of forming a contract.
Having unexpectedly acquired five Grass Rabbit Pastes, it can at least be said that he didn’t come away empty-handed, providing some slight consolation.
"Two more floors to go..."
"Since I’ve already come, I might as well take a look."
Ye Hanjun walked towards the elevator, heading for the sixth floor.
This time he intentionally avoided others, taking every opportunity to avoid speaking with strangers, and quickly scanning each floor.
The environment on the sixth floor was rocky ground with sparse vegetation and monotonous colors, seeming rather desolate.
The wounded and handicapped Fond Spirits kept here were few in number. However, they mostly had larger bodies, with over seventy percent being from the Savage category.
To transport these Fond Spirits back to Canghai Pavilion takes considerable manpower – but isn’t this the type of environment needed for the Rehabilitation Therapist, Nurse, and Therapist professions to improve their ranks?
Mulling over these thoughts, Ye Hanjun arrived at the seventh floor.
Just as he stepped out of the elevator, he felt a twinge in his temple and had to slow his pace until he came to a halt.
There’s a statue at the entrance?
Gazing straight ahead, there was a ten-meter-wide entrance with no door frame structure, while in the center stood only a two-meter-tall statue.
The statue was too lifelike; with sharp lines, cold face, every minute detail was worthy of artistic appreciation and could draw everyone’s attention, regardless of where it was placed.
It depicted the figure of a mature man, standing upright with his back straight, clad in a dark metal armor.
Both hands were clutching a golden giant sword, the blade vertical to the ground, and a part of the tip was buried in the ground.
The entire sword – in fact, exceeded the height of the statue, standing over two meters high.
Together they create an image of awe-inspiring valour with an impressive air.
However, Ye Hanjun didn’t utter a word. His deep gaze examined the figure carefully, then glanced up at another easily overlooked bat statue hanging on the ceiling. He already understood.
"Watcher... Interesting."
Ye Hanjun resumed his stride, showing no signs of perturbation.
As he passed the statue, a trench line on the ground, sinking downwards, flashed slightly.
Immediately after, through his top-notch perception, Ye Hanjun felt as if he had entered another world.
Even if the formless power wasn’t pressing on him directly, but the power imprint of a barrier-like structure was prevalent all around, layer upon layer, linked to one another.
Before him, a white-haired old man was standing half in the shadows.
Seeing Ye Hanjun, he bowed and then formally introduced:
"This is still part of the rescue center."
"Here we have a group of the most special and dangerous distressed Fond Spirits. They must be restrained for their safety and to ensure they don’t harm others."
"Visitors are prohibited from feeding them."
"Even if they are bound by chains and cages, it’s best not to approach within ten meters. Otherwise, if anything happens, the rescue center is not responsible."
"What if someone takes interest in one of the Fond Spirits, can we adopt and form contracts?" asked Ye Hanjun, intrigued.
The old man shook his head, sighing lightly:
"You’ll understand once you look around. The situations of these Fond Spirits are quite complicated."
"It’s not that you can’t adopt, but in reality, for so many years, no one has been willing to form a contract."
"They’re more like unfortunate beasts lost in the darkness, only capable of licking their wounds in the dark."
"The best outcome they can hope for... is to grow old in solitude within these few meters."
