Chapter 354: Stroke Of Luck.
Chapter 354: Stroke Of Luck.
Tyrant stood up after facing a blow and told Valerian he was stronger than his father. Fortuna and Valerian stood shoulder to shoulder, facing the biggest enemy. They were not affected by the war around them. The chaos was the last thing they were thinking about.
After the Tyrant presented his compliment, he took out a long halberd from his magic pouch, and while swinging it, he said, "This is a dragon treasure. Today, I can finally use it."
Valerian and Fortuna gazed at each other and brandished their weapons to face the Tyrant. The noseless man charged at them, and the two moved in different directions. Valerian and Fortuna gained a steady foothold before they lunged back to attack Immortuous from both sides.
Suddenly, Valerian said, "Fortuna, delay."
The instruction was clear, and Fortuna knew this guy had a better battle experience than her. She reduced her attack speed, and indeed, Immortuous swung the halberd overhead. The spinning blade almost managed to hit Fortuna. Valerian raised his ancient pinewood sword, but the might of a dragon treasure was not something it could match.
Valerian was flung away from the hit. The impact was so strong that Valerian landed ten meters away on his back. Fortuna was not in human form, but she could still cast a mana beam attack. Immortuous was invulnerable to magic attacks, yet his instincts made him hesitate.
During a flinch of a few seconds, Valerian stood up and covered his fists with battle aura. He had no legendary weapon to fight against this guy and would have to depend on his body.
The situation was not looking good for him, but something happened when he got desperate. Tyrant charged at him, and Fortuna attacked him with a wood mana beam. However, the attack did not affect him. A few wisps of mana landed on the ground, forming a wooden stump coiled around Tyrant’s foot.
The two ends of the stump were buried in the ground, and this sudden restrain made Immortuous lose balance. Fortuna appeared behind him and kicked the man in the back of his head. The shock made him release the weapon. The dragon queen quickly vanished from her spot, grabbed the Halberd, and appeared next to Valerian.
She stabbed the shaft into the ground and took deep breaths. Immortuous stood up straight and said, "Give it back to me. You cannot use it."
Fortuna wanted to say something when Valerian asked, "Why do you think so?"
Tyrant Immortuous shook his head and said, "The restrictions of this Halberd do not allow a human to touch it. If you do that, it will suck away your blood. You can ask the Dragon Queen. She must have lost some just now."
Valerian looked at Fortuna, who nodded and said, "It is true."
Valerian nodded and replied to her with his consciousness, ’It is true, but that is because the people do not have pure blood.’
That said, Valerian grabbed the shaft that looked like dragon scales. The thin point was engraved with a coiling dragon raging onward, while the long blade attached to it had a claw-like shape. The blade socket was shaped like a dragon biting onto the shaft.
Valerian said, "What a good weapon, but too bad you cannot display its true might. Your magic body does not have what it takes to invoke the true powers of this weapon. Allow me to open a new world to you, Coward Inferior."
He charged at Immortuous, and the speed was so quick that the latter could not even see. Valerian swung the Halberd, and the blade dug deep inside Immortuous’s torso. The man cried in pain.
At this moment, the war slowly came to a standstill. Valerian said, "This treasure is boosting my power, speed, and reactions. The name of this dragon treasure is called Justice Halberd. Do you know why so?
This Halberd was a reward for the man who executed the sinners of humanity. It was not a big deal to do so. After all, everyone can kill a stranger and call it justice. However, this man killed three generations of his family embroiled in occult practices. He killed them for the wellness of society.
You thought just because you can touch it. Will you be able to use it? Do you know all the treasures from the dragon god have a spirit of their own?"
Tyrant opened his eyes wide in shock. The next thing made his mind explode. Valerian said, "Allow me to show you another treasure, Tyrant Immortuous."
He took back the Halberd and jumped back a great distance. Valerian said, "I am not a god, but they bless me."
The next moment, fourteen wings grew on his back. Seven different lights, Valerian flapped the wings and climbed up the void. The Halberd shined with a golden glow, and the silver armor was covered with a thin layer of red battle aura.
Valerian raised his left palm, and a ball of grey mana condensed over it. He said, "The blessings gods gave me to improve the world. Seven elements, battle aura, inheritance of decay, and with a stroke of luck, the tool of justice.
This is what a real blessing looks like, Tyrant Immortuous. You are nothing but an inferior wannabe. Who destroyed everything and everyone you came in contact with. Also, you are a fool who fell for my theatrics."
Tyrant was taken aback, and Fortuna appeared next to him. She asked, "This young man is not easy. He is a cunning fox. Also, do you feel something imbalanced inside you?"
Tyrant Immortuous looked at her, and suddenly, he clenched his chest. He had never thought that he would ever suffer pain. Fortuna suddenly jumped up, twisted her body, and kicked Immortuous in the chest.
The impact of her kick was so strong that the chest plate kicked in. Valerian put away his wings and decay mana as he descended back to the ground. He sighed and said, "The theatrics were used only to keep you from detecting the changes my mana would cause inside you."
Suddenly, a general from the Gladius army said, "Do you have no honor? How dare you trick Master like this?"
Valerian looked toward the source of the sound and said, "Did he have any honor when he killed my father? Did he have honor when he tried to scheme against my mother? This person, who does not even dare to walk out in the public eye without his helmet, is honorable."
The general did not get to reply to Valerian. With a battle ax, Vulcan appeared next to him and beheaded the guy.
...
In the back of the camp, Boo-too shook her head and said, "This looks too easy."
The holy maiden nodded and said, "Let us see if he can fathom the situation. If he cannot, then I will warn him."
...
Suddenly, Tyrant stood up and tore away his broken armor. He said, "This armor was made of mithril. Yet you can break it in a kick. The queen of dragons sure is strong."
He looked at the two young people standing before him and asked, "Are you two ignorant, or are you calm?"
Valerian smiled and said, "Just calm. We know this much will not take you down for good."
Immortuous nodded, he stood up and the injury on his torso healed at the pace visible to everyone. Valerian nodded and swung the Halberd.
Fortuna also took a battle position and said, "Come, let us fight."
The battle ensued again and the people watched with their hearts racing. While the Western alliance and the magicals wished for Valerian to win, the prayers of the Gladius army were dedicated to their Master.
Something about Tyrant Immortuous made all these people serve him so loyally. Valerian remotely wanted to know this, but the time was not apt. Fortuna had ordered the dragons to watch and interfere in critical situations. They were not allowed to have any Magical or human expert die.
The casualties on Valerian’s side were lower because of this. Immortuous did not care about his people as much as his people cared about him.
His generals were occupied. They were not like those soldiers who stood around to witness the see-saw battle between the two sides. The allied experts were holding them back.
Boo-too saw the situation and said, "I was worried for nothing. This child has something on his mind."
Misericordia nodded, and then she cast a gaze at Valerie. The girl was praying continuously. The Holy Maiden looked at the child and said, "Is it me, or something is going on with this child?"
The saintess said, "She is following a spell chant I taught her. This chant was left by the Goddess for times like these. Only an innocent soul could summon her might without any backlash."
Boo-too and Holy Maiden were surprised and the old saintess said, "It was a stroke of luck that she had affinity with this chant."
