Chapter 240: Girlfriend
Chapter 240: Girlfriend
"You are dead, boy," said Kali, and other elders stood behind her. Malion, the elf elder, and Yanthus, the red-haired man, who fought with Aleera, were also there. All of them jumping up and down in exasperation as they looked at the headless body of Helderer.
However, Kadyn’s side had far greater rank six mages than them. It was also a shock to them. Especially Kali who had rejected Kadyn’s offer due to her pride. She was already regretting her decision. However, as an elder of the Council, she could not show weakness in front of someone like Kadyn. Who would fear and revere them in the future otherwise?
"I am dead?" Kadyn sneered. "I am so afraid."
"There is no benefit in talking with a blockhead," said Kali. "Let’s show him the foundation of the Council."
As she spoke her shoes started to glitter. Malion held a staff; a gem at the tip of the staff produced a shining light. Yanthus wore gauntlets and they rattled in his hands. Similarly, other elders also had different kinds of artifacts, mirrors, rings, armors, and one man even had wings, and surprisingly, all of the artifacts were Radiant, rank six. It was a spectacular sight to behold. However, Kadyn did not look afraid. There was a smile across his face.
"What are you doing?" called a voice and several figures appeared beside Kadyn, looking at the elders at the front. Aleera. Kadyn smiled when he saw her standing with him and not with the elders. "The world has plunged into war and misery and you are still trying to battle with your own people."
"Ask this to your boyfriend, Aleera," Kali said, gritting her teeth. She hated this guy’s gut. "He’s the one who killed Helderer."
Aleera sneaked a peak at Kadyn and flushed when she saw him looking at her smilingly. She eyed Kali and said, "It was Helderer who was in the wrong—"
"Even if he was in the wrong, it is not his place to punish him," said Kali, and the elders behind her nodded. "He should have reported it to the Council."
"As if it would do any good," Kadyn chuckled and continued mockingly. "If the Council were partial the man would have never committed the crime. Who knows how many more Helderer hiding in those saggy skins?" He eyed all the oldies in front of him and sneered.
"You are going too far, boy," Yanthus took a step forward and stood beside Kali. "Take it back."
"What?" Kadyn stared back, scrunching his nose as if he had sniffed something disgusting. "Did I say something wrong, you old oaf?"
"Alright," said Malion. "There is no talking with this guy. We have to teach him a lesson."
He grabbed his staff and pointed toward Kadyn. However before he could cast a spell, hundreds of lights flickered behind Kadyn. He froze when he realized what they were. Radiant rank artifact. All of them. Holy shit. How did they have so many rank-six artifacts?
"You—who are you, boy?" stuttered the elf, and a fearful expression finally appeared across his face. How did all of those people become rank six mages? And he could not believe they had so many Radiant rank artifacts. They had fucked with the wrong guy this time. He looked at Kali and the others, trying to get some support from them. But he only saw the shock on their faces. They were the same.
"Can we end this?" said Aleera in a helpless voice.
"You are an elder of Magic Council for god’s sake," Finally Kali could not control her emotions. "Why are you siding with an outsider?"
"Outsider?" Aleera looked confused and continued, "Did you not say a moment ago he is my boyfriend?"
Kali chocked. Her own reckless words had come back to bite her. ’One should not speak without thinking,’ once a wise man said.
"Let’s go," Kali turned to leave, and when Kadyn did not stop her, others discreetly followed on her heels.
"Will she cause trouble?" Kadyn asked, looking at the fading back of Kali.
"Maybe," said Aleera.
"A pity," said Kadyn.
"What’s a pity?"
"We will lose a good capable cannon fodder."
"You are so bad," Aleera said, her smile manifested across her face.
"So, is it true?" Kadyn asked, suddenly his voice serious.
Aleera spotted the change in his tone and asked cautiously, "What?"
"That I am your boyfriend."
"Go away," Aleera pushed him back and rushed away. Kadyn and his companions burst into a peal of laughter. What a cute reaction.
Kadyn turned towards his companions and said, "Alright. Let’s go."

Standing at the towering wall of the city Kadyn eyed in the distance. A cold breeze blew passed him, teasing his hair. He had sent to scout, but no one had reported back yet. He had also assigned one of the three gates of the city to Aleera and her sisters and another to the Council elders.
Kadyn had chosen this gate himself because this was the main gate to enter the city and he had also received the reports that Sephiran was coming from this direction. He looked around and frowned. "Elora," he called his sister. "Have you seen Cecelia?"
She looked at him in a confused manner and said, "I thought you sent her on a scouting mission."
"No," Kadyn frowned. "I sent Slyff and Nefia. Both of them can shapeshift, after I gave shapeshifting element to Nefia. They are the best people for scouts. Although Cecelia has dark, light, and space elements, she also has the vampire bloodline. The blood tribe would immediately sense it. Though I have cleansed her bloodline there is still little bit of it remained. Sending her for scouting would be no different than killing her."
"So, where is she now?" Elora asked.
"I am here," said a voice from behind them.
The siblings turned and looked at the girl. Cecelia was standing behind Elora. "Where were you?" asked Kadyn. "Do you know how worried I was?"
"I am sorry," said Cecelia. "I wasn’t feeling well, so I went away for a moment."
"What happened, Sister Cecelia?" asked Elora, clutching her arm. "Are you fine?
"Oh, I am totally fine now," Cecelia smiled and the two girls started chattering, as they strolled away.
Kadyn narrowed his eyes. There was something... wrong with Cecelia. But he could not pinpoint. Then his eyes widened and he called. "Wait a minute."
