Chapter 13 Don't Try to Escape
Chapter 13 Don't Try to Escape
In the police station corridor, Captain Yan was walking briskly toward his office, his leather shoes making a rapid clattering sound on the terrazzo floor.
He had just finished interrogating Gu Qingzhou.
Now we need to organize the materials and submit the case.
The higher-ups are taking this case very seriously.
After all, it involves foreign countries.
Ugh!
It's already 8102.
However, some people still suffer from severe "fear of foreigners".
They pay special attention to anything involving foreign countries.
To be fair...
Squad Leader Yan did not believe that Gu Qingzhou had done anything wrong.
Their customs clearance procedures were legal.
All of the exported products are civilian products.
However, when these civilian products reached the Middle East, they were transformed into deadly weapons.
Doesn't this fit the local characteristics?
That place has been chaotic for decades or even centuries; even a stone can become a deadly weapon.
If this precedent is set.
They really treated this kid like an arms dealer and dealt with him.
So, will companies that export cars, knives, fertilizers, and even sugar also be arrested in the future?
After all, cars can kill people.
Knives can also kill.
With slight modifications, fertilizers and sugar can become powerful explosives.
However, these are not things he should be considering.
What he needs to do now is to organize today's interrogation materials and then submit them.
Just as Captain Yan pushed open the office door and was about to enter,
A series of steady, powerful footsteps echoed from the end of the corridor.
The footsteps were completely different from the hurried and chaotic steps of the surrounding police officers; they were neat, powerful, and carried a rhythm ingrained in their very bones.
Squad Leader Yan instinctively turned around.
Just then, he saw a man in military uniform walking towards him.
The other person was wearing a grass-green summer uniform, with two bars and two stars slung over their shoulders.
Lieutenant Colonel.
Captain Yan frowned.
This uniform isn't from the People's Armed Police; it belongs to Lao Lu.
Our provincial department and Lao Lu have almost no business dealings.
What is he doing here?
Could it be?
Yan, the detachment leader, had a vague suspicion in his mind.
The lieutenant colonel walked up to Commander Yan, stood at attention, and gave a crisp salute. "Hello, are you Commander Yan? I am Sun Yang, a staff officer from the General Staff Department of the Western Theater Command Army Headquarters."
Squad Leader Yan returned the salute, looking puzzled. "Hello, Staff Officer Sun. Is there anything I can help you with?"
"I am here on orders to transfer the criminal suspect being interrogated by your bureau, Gu Qingzhou." Lieutenant Colonel Sun Yang pulled a document from a folder and handed it over. "This is the transfer order and related procedures. Please take a look."
Yan, the detachment leader, took the document and quickly scanned it.
The handwriting on the transfer order was neat and standardized, stamped with a bright red seal, and signed by the unit number of a certain unit in the Western Theater Command.
The paperwork is complete, the procedures are compliant, and there are no problems to be found.
However, he did not immediately express his opinion.
Instead, he raised his head and stared directly at Sun Yang. "Chief of Staff Sun, Gu Qingzhou is currently a major suspect in our investigation. Interpol has issued a global arrest warrant, and diplomatic notes from several countries have reached the ministry. According to relevant procedures, he cannot be taken away by anyone at this time."
"I know." Lieutenant Colonel Sun Yang nodded, his tone calm but unquestionable. "So I'm not here to ask for instructions, I'm here to inform you."
Yan, the detachment leader, frowned.
He's been a policeman for over twenty years; what kind of situation hasn't he seen?
But this was the first time military personnel had come to the police station and spoken to him in this tone.
"Staff Officer Sun," Captain Yan said in a low voice, "I need a reasonable explanation."
"The case involving Gu Qingzhou has gone beyond the scope of ordinary criminal cases, involving national security and military secrets," Lieutenant Colonel Sun Yang said without changing his expression. "According to relevant regulations, the military has the right to take over this case. Of course, it's only temporary."
"Temporary?" Captain Yan seized on this word.
"Two days." Lieutenant Colonel Sun Yang held up two fingers. "At most two days, we'll send him back. In the meantime, you can conduct your investigations and gather evidence as needed; we will not interfere."
Captain Yan stared at him for several seconds, then looked down at the transfer order again.
The paperwork was complete, the procedures were compliant, and the reasons were valid. Legally speaking, he had no reason to refuse.
But emotionally, he felt very uncomfortable.
After working for most of the day, deploying over a hundred people, and fully armed with helicopters and armored vehicles, they finally managed to bring the person back.
The interrogation had barely begun, and before the military could even settle in, it was abruptly cut short.
What kind of situation is this?
"Captain Yan," Lieutenant Colonel Sun Yang noticed his hesitation and softened his tone, "the higher-ups are already coordinating this matter. We're just following orders, and I hope you can understand."
Captain Yan took a deep breath and then slowly exhaled.
He certainly knew the weight of the statement, "The higher-ups are already coordinating things."
"He's in the interrogation room." Captain Yan finally relented, but his tone remained firm. "But I want to emphasize one point: he's a key suspect. You must ensure his personal safety and bring him back on time."
"Don't worry." Lieutenant Colonel Sun Yang saluted again. "Return them the same way they were taken away."
In the interrogation room, Gu Qingzhou was in a daze.
He has been moved from the "tiger chair" to an ordinary chair, and there is a disposable paper cup of boiled water on the table opposite him.
The benefits have been upgraded, but my anxiety hasn't lessened in the slightest.
Time passed by, and it became completely dark outside.
Just as he was wondering if he would have to spend the night in the detention center, the door to the interrogation room was suddenly pushed open.
It wasn't Captain Yan or any other police officer who came in, but a soldier in uniform.
Gu Qingzhou was stunned.
Huh?
Did the military get involved in my case too?
Sun Yang walked up to him, looked him up and down, and asked with a hint of curiosity, "Gu Qingzhou?"
"It's me," Gu Qingzhou replied instinctively.
"Come with me."
"Where to?"
"Don't ask questions you shouldn't ask. Come with me."
Gu Qingzhou was completely bewildered.
My mind is a complete mess.
What happened?
Does this mean we don't have to spend the night at the detention center tonight?
What's this soldier doing here?
Where are you taking me this time?
"Um..." Gu Qingzhou asked tentatively, "Are you sending me to the detention center?"
Sun Yang glanced at him and said indifferently, "It's not a detention center."
"Where is that?"
You'll know when you get there.
Gu Qingzhou opened her mouth, wanting to ask another question, but Lieutenant Colonel Sun Yang had already turned and walked out.
He had no choice but to pick up the book "Fundamentals of Materials Science" that he had been holding onto and quickly followed after him.
Outside the interrogation room.
Squad Leader Yan's face turned ashen.
Gu Qingzhou's heart skipped a beat when she saw his expression, which looked like he had swallowed a fly.
However, he didn't think much of it.
He hurriedly left the police station with Sun Yang.
As Gu Qingzhou walked out of the police station, she saw a military green Mengshi SUV parked at the entrance.
The vehicle was covered with a thin layer of dust, the license plate was military, and a temporary pass was affixed to the windshield.
Two fully armed soldiers stood beside the vehicle and saluted when they saw Lieutenant Colonel Sun Yang come out.
Gu Qingzhou's legs felt a little weak.
He glanced at the pistols on the two soldiers' waists, then at the rugged lines of the Mengshi vehicle, and a bad thought popped into his head.
Are they going to drag me away and execute me?
"Get in the car." Sun Yang opened the back door.
Gu Qingzhou swallowed hard and obediently crawled inside.
Two soldiers followed him into the vehicle, flanking him on either side.
The car door closed, and the engine roared.
The Mengshi vehicle drove out of the police station gate and merged into the night traffic.
Chengdu is brightly lit at night, with neon lights flashing outside the car window and pedestrians hurrying by.
As Gu Qingzhou watched the familiar street scenes rush past, her doubts grew stronger.
Instead of heading towards the detention center outside the city, the car got on the highway and headed north.
Gu Qingzhou couldn't hold back any longer and tentatively asked, "Um... Boss, where are we going?"
"Gansu Province." Sun Yang replied without turning his head.
Gu Qingzhou almost bit her tongue. "Gansu Province? What for?"
Lieutenant Colonel Sun Yang did not answer.
Gu Qingzhou wanted to ask more, but the soldier on the left glanced at him expressionlessly.
The meaning in his eyes was obvious.
--Shut up.
Gu Qingzhou swallowed back the words that were about to come out.
Sit down properly, keep your eyes focused on your nose and your mind.
After driving for nearly an hour, we turned onto a side road and saw a brightly lit area in the distance.
The area is surrounded by iron fences and heavily guarded posts, with the silhouettes of several helicopters parked on the helipad.
It's a military camp.
No.
It should be a small military airfield.
The Mengshi vehicle stopped in front of the checkpoint, and the sentry came over to check the documents and pass.
He glanced into the car again, his gaze lingering on Gu Qingzhou for two seconds, before saluting and letting her pass.
The car was restarted.
It drove all the way to the tarmac before stopping.
Gu Qingzhou looked out the car window and saw a helicopter parked on the helipad.
The aircraft rotors were already slowly turning, emitting a low hum.
"Get out of the car." Sun Yang opened the car door.
Gu Qingzhou quickly got out of the car, the night wind blowing on her face, carrying a slight chill.
As he looked at the helicopter, a ridiculous thought popped into his head.
"Boss, you're not going to throw me off the plane, are you?"
Sun Yang paused for a moment.
She turned to look at him, a mocking expression finally appearing on her face. "Heh, you watch too many movies."
"It's not because I've watched too many movies," Gu Qingzhou shook her head. "I actually saw someone being kicked out of a helicopter and into the sea with my own eyes."
"That area is teeming with saltwater crocodiles."
"So after that person was kicked into the sea, he was immediately torn apart by five horses..."
"After seeing that scene, I couldn't eat for several days."
Sun Yang then realized what was happening.
This kid has seen his share of big events.
"Don't worry," Sun Yang replied. "This is Sichuan Province. There's no sea or crocodiles here. At most, you'll be shot, not torn apart by five horses."
"Is there a difference?" Gu Qingzhou shrugged helplessly.
The helicopter's cabin door was already open, the engine was roaring loudly, and the wind whipped up by the rotors was so strong that it was hard to open one's eyes.
When Gu Qingzhou climbed into the cabin, the two soldiers who were "escorting" him also joined in the discussion.
He sat on a row of simple seats, his seatbelt fastened and his earmuffs on.
Two soldiers flanked him, one on each side.
It's like a sandwich cookie.
Sun Yang sat opposite him, also wearing earmuffs, and made a "relax" gesture to him.
Soon.
The helicopter slowly ascended, and the night view of Chengdu shrank into a dazzling map outside the porthole.
With lights shining from every home and cars flowing like a river, the city's nighttime scenery is breathtakingly beautiful.
As Gu Qingzhou watched the lights recede into the distance, a strange and inexplicable emotion welled up inside her.
Just a few hours earlier, he was still waiting in the lecture hall for the first class of the new semester.
He is currently on a military helicopter, being carried by several soldiers to Gansu Province.
life.
Indeed, life is unpredictable.
The large intestine wraps the small intestine.
He turned his gaze away from the porthole, closed his eyes, and forced himself not to think about those random things.
Since we're already here, let's make the best of it.
The helicopter flew in the night sky for nearly two hours.
Gu Qingzhou dozed off for a while, but was woken up by the roar of the engine.
Outside the porthole, it was pitch black, with only occasional glimpses of lights on the ground, like scattered gold dust on an inky black curtain.
I don't know how long we flew, but the plane began to descend.
Gu Qingzhou looked down through the porthole.
The outline of a cluster of buildings can be vaguely seen.
—Barracks, training grounds, and firing ranges—standard military camp setup.
But the plane did not land in the military camp; instead, it flew over the buildings and landed in front of a relatively isolated courtyard.
The hatch opened, and a gust of dry, cold wind rushed in, carrying the rugged feel unique to the Northwest.
"We're here. Come with me."
Sun Yang unbuckled his seatbelt and was the first to jump off the plane.
Gu Qingzhou followed.
Not far away.
Several gray and white buildings stand in neat rows.
In the yard in front of the building, there are some drought-resistant shrubs and a few poplars. The leaves rustle in the night breeze.
We're getting closer.
Gu Qingzhou then realized that these buildings were actually the military camp's guesthouse.
A look of joy immediately appeared on his face.
I had already mentally prepared myself to spend tonight in the detention center.
Unexpectedly, things took a dramatic turn for the better.
They were actually brought to stay at a guesthouse.
Although the two-hour flight almost shook my bones apart.
But now it seems it was worth it.
The group, one after the other, arrived at a room on the second floor.
Sun Yang swiped his room card to open the door and stepped aside to let Gu Qingzhou in.
The room was small, with a single bed, a desk, a chair, a wardrobe, and a lamp and a pot of boiled water on the bedside table.
The bedding was folded neatly, square and perfectly shaped, like a tofu block – a clear sign of military discipline.
The windows were fitted with security bars, but not the cheap, poorly made kind; they were standard iron bars.
The room was simple, but it had everything you needed, including a private bathroom with all the toiletries you could need.
Sun Yang stood at the door, looking at Gu Qingzhou and said, "You can stay here tonight. The blankets are new, and the toothbrush and towel are in the bathroom. Dinner time is over, but there are instant noodles and sausages on the bedside table. Make do with that."
Gu Qingzhou paused for a moment, then nodded. "Thank you, leader."
"Don't call me leader." Lieutenant Colonel Sun Yang frowned. "Just call me Staff Officer Sun."
"Thank you, Staff Officer Sun."
Lieutenant Colonel Sun Yang looked at him, his tone becoming more serious. "There are a few things I need to make clear to you. First, your freedom of movement will be restricted; you cannot leave this building, and you certainly cannot try to escape. Second, there will be guards outside the door. If you need anything, you can tell the guards, but don't try to get close to them or ask them for information. Third, if anyone comes to ask you questions, answer truthfully; don't try to be clever."
He paused, his gaze sharp as he stared at Gu Qingzhou. "The last point, and the most important one—don't try to run away."

P.S.: My other book has been taken down. So many books about having many children and having many blessings are fine, but mine is the only one that got taken down. Oh well, if it's taken down, it's taken down. I'll just focus on writing this one.
