Chapter 7 Preparations Before Opening for Business
Chapter 7 Preparations Before Opening for Business
Because I was afraid of driving too fast and breaking the tableware, I drove much slower on the way back.
Lu Hua cautiously pressed the accelerator, sweating profusely as he complained, "Xiao Yuan, you're such a pain! I wasn't this scared when I was pulling a calf last year."
Lu Jie, sitting on the armrest beside him, gloated, "Brother, you're still not skilled enough. Don't take on a job you're not qualified for!"
Lu Hua, somewhat embarrassed and angry, retorted, "If you recite that stupid rhyme again, I'll beat you to death tonight!"
Lu Jie pursed his lips, muttered something under his breath, and turned his head away.
Lu Yuan sat on the other side of the handrail, watching the two brothers bicker with a smile. There was no room in the back of the truck, so he was relegated to the front.
Seeing her three older brothers chatting and laughing ahead, Lu Xue pouted and instantly became unhappy: "Brother Yuan, I want to sit on the armrest too!"
Lu Jie turned to look at Lu Xue, then said sarcastically to Lu Hua, "Xiao Xue, stop fooling around. Our driver's skills aren't very good. If you sit in the front, you'll be bounced around like crazy!"
Lu Hua grew increasingly angry as he drove the tractor, and snorted coldly, "Xiao Jie, no one can save you tonight!"
. . .
The tractor traveled slowly for almost an hour before finally returning to Luwangtan Village.
The Lu brothers were all young and strong men, and they finished unloading the entire truckload of goods in no time.
These past two days, Lu Yuan's restaurant has been making a lot of moves, which has made Wang Facai anxious and frustrated, but he doesn't understand what tricks Lu Yuan is playing.
Last night, he and his wife worked until midnight on their plan to have children. They were supposed to be sleeping soundly this morning, but Lu Yuan's tractor started churning up and revving, waking them up.
Just as lunchtime approached and people started arriving, the tractor started churning out again.
Wang Facai was furious, but given Wei Yinghong's formidable fighting prowess, he could only taunt from the sidelines:
"Hey, what's the point of this closed-down restaurant? Tractors in the morning, tractors at noon, they'd be doing farm work instead!"
In the early days, this place was not called Luwangtan Village, but Lujia Village.
During a year of famine, the Wang family fled to Lujia Village and never left.
At that time, the Lu family took pity on them and gave them some land, and even helped them build houses.
At first, the Wang family was quite grateful, and the Lu and Wang families got along relatively well.
As the wave of free market economics swept in and life got better and better, the Wang family began to get restless.
One minute they complain that the land allocated to them is too little, the next they want to contract a certain mountain.
Over time, conflicts began to arise between the two families, and their relationship deteriorated.
In earlier years, the Lu and Wang families intermarried, but nowadays, anyone who dares to marry into the other family will have their legs broken by their elders.
Lu Jie was an impatient person. When he heard Wang Facai rambling on and on, he rushed up to hit him.
Lu Yuan reacted quickly and stopped Lu Jie, but unexpectedly Lu Xue rushed forward and spat out a curse:
"Do you own the road? Why do you care what time I drive a tractor?"
The diners passing by were amused by Lu Xue's cute and adorable appearance and stopped to watch the spectacle.
Wang Facai was silenced by a young girl, and his anger was seething inside him, so he could only say:
"Of course! You woke me up so early in the morning!"
Lu Yuan pushed Lu Jie next to Lu Hua, signaling him to restrain the other man, then stepped forward to shield Lu Xue behind him, saying:
"That can't be right, Mr. Wang, doesn't your business sell stewed mutton? Don't you need to get up early to prepare it? Are you serving your customers leftovers from yesterday?"
As soon as Lu Yuan finished speaking, the diners began to whisper about the strange thing that was going on.
Some of the so-called experts went further and further astray, almost to the point of suggesting that Wang Facai had poisoned the soup.
The more Wang Facai listened, the more uneasy he felt, and his expression gradually darkened.
He hadn't expected Lu Yuan to be so ruthless at such a young age, and immediately tried to cover it up:
"What do you know? My family's stewed mutton has a unique recipe and technique. Unlike you, young man, you know nothing but spout nonsense."
After listening, Lu Yuan nodded, and with a humble expression, clasped his hands in greeting to Wang Facai and the diners behind him:
"Boss Wang is right. There are no secret recipes or techniques for my sheep. I just have to get up before dawn, simmer them over low heat, and then sprinkle some salt on top before taking them out of the pot. Besides, I'm not very skilled, so I don't know what complicated seasonings can be used to mask the deliciousness of authentic Tan sheep."
Wang Facai's fingers trembled slightly from Lu Yuan's sarcastic tone. He snorted and retreated back into the shop.
The other diners, however, became interested and came over to ask Lu Yuan, "Young man, when does your restaurant open?"
Lu Yuan replied with a smile, "It'll open tomorrow!"
"Okay, come over then and see if you're bragging!"
"Don't worry, if it's not good, you can ruin my reputation!" Lu Yuan said confidently, pointing to the signboard of Xiao Lu Farmhouse Cuisine.
The diners laughed along, saying, "With such confidence, it seems we definitely have to try it."
Judging from their accents, they must be local gourmets.
These days, a group of business people got rich first. These people had suffered hunger since childhood, and after they became rich, they thought about eating their way back to wealth.
Whether it's along the national highway or in a small town, they're willing to come and try any good food they can find.
After Lu Hua and the others had set out all the stoves, tableware, and other utensils, the people installing the flush toilets arrived.
Lu Yuan specially cleared out a small storage room to use as a toilet, and worked until 6 p.m. to finally finish upgrading all the necessary parts.
After finishing his work, Lu Yuan specially cooked 3 jin of stir-fried lamb to treat his brothers and sisters who had helped him.
After taking a bite, Lu Hua exclaimed that it was so delicious he almost jumped for joy: "Xiao Yuan, I knew you wouldn't sell noodles yesterday! This is the real trump card!"
Lu Jie was too busy eating lamb to talk anymore.
Even Lu Xue's mouth was stuffed full, her cheeks puffed out like a rabbit's, and she nodded frequently.
Only Lu Ying maintained a certain ladylike demeanor, swallowing in small sips, but at a very fast pace, spitting out a small dish of bones in no time.
Before long, the table was swept clean in a whirlwind. Lu Jie patted his belly and sighed:
"Xiao Yuan, I wouldn't feel bad even if I shot Lu Hua while I was eating this stir-fried lamb!"
"You think you're so tough today, kid?!" Lu Hua grabbed Lu Jie's arm with one hand.
After struggling free with cries of pain, Lu Jie muttered a curse and ran away in a flash.
Lu Hua was not to be outdone and took off after him.
Lu Yuan took out the black bag, pulled out a stack of black clothes, and handed them to Lu Ying:
"Yingying, there are two things I need your help with."
"Brother, feel free to say it." Lu Ying smiled and withdrew her gaze from following Lu Jie.
"These T-shirts need to have the character 'Lu' embroidered on the left chest by Third Aunt."
My third aunt was famous for her needlework; some girls would even ask her to make their wedding dresses before they got married.
Lu Ying immediately nodded to indicate that there was no problem, and Lu Yuan continued:
"Also, I'd like you to help collect money these next few days. I'm not sure if that will affect your studies."
After reopening, Lu Yuan will definitely be busy in the kitchen, and won't be able to manage the front of the house at all.
Lu Ying happened to be on summer vacation, so staying in the front hall would at least allow her to settle the accounts.
Besides helping with farm work at home, Lu Hua and Lu Jie also work outside, so it's not appropriate to always ask them for help.
Lu Ying nodded without hesitation, indicating that it was no problem, but Lu Xue pouted and objected:
"Brother Yuan, what about me? Of all the women in my family, I'm the only one without any work to do!"
Lu Yuan laughed heartily, having completely forgotten about the little one, and then made the arrangements:
"Xiaoxue certainly has a mission, and it's the most important one!"
Lu Xue asked curiously, "What? What?"
Lu Yuan: "Your job is to keep an eye on Wang Facai at the door and make sure he doesn't cause any trouble!"
Lu Xue saluted like a soldier in a TV drama: "Understood, mission accomplished!"
