Chapter 14: Is the spirited little sister going to fight?
Chapter 14: Is the spirited little sister going to fight?
Little Deer picked up a piece of pork rib and stuffed it into his mouth.
The moment she bit down, her eyes widened like saucers, her cheeks bulged, and she made a muffled sound.
"Hmm—".
Coco's movements were even more exaggerated.
After taking a bite of the shredded meat, her eyes lit up, and she chewed faster.
Then the chopsticks reached for the plate again, twice as fast as before.
The other women were also moving much faster than usual, their chopsticks moving back and forth between the ribs and rice almost nonstop.
Chen Mo's cooking skills were already good.
Having lived alone in a big city for ten years, cooking is a basic survival skill for him. Through countless overtime nights, he has developed cooking skills that rival those of chefs in small restaurants.
He cooked this meal with even more skill than usual.
Because of the culinary expertise within him, he could control the saltiness, color, and taste of every dish to the optimal level.
This dish is just as good as those high-class chefs in five-star hotels.
The girls were too busy talking to speak.
The only sounds on the table were the chopsticks tapping against the rim of the bowls, the sounds of chewing, swallowing, and the occasional satisfied hum that escaped from deep within someone's throat.
Chen Mo held the bowl and slowly shoveled a mouthful of rice into his mouth.
Watching the five girls wolf down their food, I felt a surge of inexplicable satisfaction.
This is the greatest recognition for a chef.
There is no more convincing praise than a CD.
Halfway through her meal, Coco suddenly slowed down.
His expression suddenly became serious and earnest.
A white grain of rice was still stuck to the corner of her mouth, making her look incredibly cute.
Coco swallowed the mouthful of rice in her mouth, took a deep breath, and then said something in a firm and resounding tone.
"Brother Mo, I want to marry you."
The sound wasn't loud, but it was like a pebble thrown into a calm lake on the dining table.
The sound of chopsticks stopping stopped.
The chewing sounds stopped.
The sound of pouring drinks also stopped.
Xiao Rou was picking up her bowl and shoveling the last mouthful of rice into her mouth when she heard those words and froze as if she had been electrocuted!
Then she spat out the mouthful of food in her mouth!
She bent over, buried her face in her hands, and her shoulders trembled violently.
The air on the dining table froze for a fraction of a second.
Chen Mo was somewhat helpless.
What on earth is going on? They were eating when they suddenly blurted out that they wanted to get married.
"Stop fooling around and eat your food."
He picked up the bowl, reached for the plate with his chopsticks, and spoke in a casual tone, as if he were coaxing a child.
Who knew Coco would actually take it seriously?
She placed her chopsticks on the rim of the bowl, braced her hands on the table, and leaned her upper body towards Chen Mo. Her braids slid from her shoulders to her chest, and the expression on her face didn't seem like she was joking.
"Brother Mo, I'm really not joking."
"Your cooking is so delicious, I must marry you."
Little Deer put down her chopsticks, wiped the grease from the corner of her mouth with the back of her hand, and rolled her eyes at Coco.
"Go away, you newbie, how dare you try to steal Xiaorou from us?"
Xiaorou had just finished coughing and was about to have some soup to calm down.
Upon hearing this, his hand trembled, and the spoon hit the rim of the bowl with a crisp sound, spilling a few drops of soup onto the table.
Her face flushed instantly, burning from the base of her neck all the way to the tips of her ears. Her lips twitched a few times before she managed to squeeze out a sound.
"Don't talk nonsense..."
Her voice was soft and urgent, with a hint of panicked tremor at the end. Her eyes glanced quickly at Chen Mo before shrinking back, as if she had been burned.
Coco turned her head and looked at Xiaorou's flushed face. The corners of her mouth slowly turned up, revealing a meaningful smile.
"Oh—so Sister Xiaorou arrived first."
She dragged out the last syllable of her voice, with a mischievous, amused tone.
Sweetie pursed her lips and chuckled, her shoulders swaying slightly.
Sister Nan drank her soup expressionlessly, but her eyes darted back and forth between Coco and Xiao Rou, and the corners of her mouth curved slightly.
Xiao Lu was the most restless. She put her arm around Xiao Rou's shoulder and whispered something in her ear.
Xiao Rou's ears turned even redder, and she reached out to pinch Xiao Lu's waist. The two of them twisted together on the chair, the chair legs creaking on the floor.
As Chen Mo watched them fooling around, the corners of his mouth unconsciously turned up slightly.
Five eighteen- or nineteen-year-old girls sat around his dining table, bickering and arguing over the phrase "I want to marry you."
This scene is like two completely different worlds compared to the scene of him rummaging through ribs in front of the refrigerator by himself yesterday.
After the meal, the girls took turns cleaning up.
Little Deer stacked the bowls together and carried them into the kitchen. Sister Nan turned on the tap and started washing the bowls. Sweetie wiped the dining table with a rag, and Coco squatted on the ground to pick up the vegetable leaves that had accidentally fallen.
Xiaorou stuffed the chairs back under the table one by one, and then straightened the cushions on the sofa.
No one told them what to do, and no one slacked off.
Every pair of hands is busy, every figure is moving.
Chen Mo sat on the sofa, watching the busy figures in the kitchen and living room, and did some mental calculations.
Five young women, their daily rent is less than thirty yuan, plus a few pairs of stockings and a few breast cups.
Their work ranges from making scallion pancakes and congee in the morning, to washing vegetables, peeling them, scrubbing pots and washing dishes before meals, and wiping tables, mopping floors, and cleaning the kitchen after meals.
If you hire a cleaner at market price, these jobs would be worth at least two hundred dollars.
This doesn't even include the emotional value they provide.
Those repeated "Brother, you're so good," "Brother, you're so handsome," and "Brother, your cooking is so delicious," plus the incident of Xiao Rou sneaking into his room in the middle of the night.
He hired five nannies at a very low price.
These five nannies were all young, slender, and had lovely voices.
Everyone was eager to do the work, afraid of doing less than others.
Chen Mo leaned back on the sofa, crossed his legs, and was in such a good mood that he wanted to hum a song.
This is absolutely worth it.
Just then, Coco was wiping the table when her cell phone rang in her pocket.
She straightened up, wiped the water droplets on her hands on her apron, took out her phone, glanced at the screen, and swiped to answer the call.
"Feed?"
The voice on the other end of the phone wasn't loud, but some intermittent syllables could be faintly heard in the quiet living room.
Coco's expression gradually changed from its initial casualness.
First, his brows furrowed, the corners of his mouth turned down, and the light in his eyes changed from gentle to sharp.
"What?"
Her voice suddenly rose, and her tone became serious.
"Okay, send me your location and I'll be right there."
She hung up the phone, clutched it in her hand, and turned to look at the people in the living room.
Little Deer peeked out from the kitchen doorway, holding a damp rag in her hand, water droplets dripping down her fingers.
"Coco, what's wrong?"
Coco's voice was rapid and short.
"Little Deer, I have something to take care of, I need to hurry over."
The little deer walked out of the kitchen, her steps much faster than usual.
"Is someone bullying your friend?"
Coco nodded, her lips pressed into a line, and her chin slightly tucked in.
"That's right, a group of young women, along with a few men, cornered my friend and tried to harass her."
I have to get there right away.
The fawn's eyes widened, and its voice rose.
"Let's go together."
Xiaorou came around from behind the sofa, gathered her loose pinkish-purple hair at the back of her head and tied it into a neat ponytail, revealing her smooth forehead and slender neck.
Sister Nan came out of the kitchen, shook the water droplets off her hands, and started putting on her shoes without saying a word.
Sweetie put down the rag in her hand and picked up the canvas bag that was placed in the entryway.
Coco looked at them, her eyes slightly red.
"Thanks."
Her voice was a little hoarse, and the last syllable trembled slightly.
The little deer waved its hand casually.
"No need to thank me, we're all sisters."
Chen Mo leaned back on the sofa, watching them, his lips twitching.
Their proud and arrogant posture is like five puffed-up kittens going to challenge a pack of wild dogs.
He sighed and stood up from the sofa.
"Are you going to fight?"
