Ch. 151 - We Lost THIS Badly? That Makes No Sense!
Chen Shu's gaze swept over First High's Special Training Class."You were all dying to have a go just now, weren't you? What happened to all that energy?"
After a moment of silence, a girl stepped forward.
She summoned a unicorn cloaked entirely in purple, its single horn radiating a deep, mesmerizing glow. Its presence was formidable.
Chen Shu remarked, "Jumping straight to an A-rank contract spirit already?"
The Slime cracked open its eyes, not even remotely concerned about the unicorn in front of it.
The girl laughed softly. "Losing to my Purple Horn Beast… you're not too bad."
The battle was about to begin!
"Wen Yu, one-shot him! Second High's students are way too full of themselves!"
"A Slime trying to flip the world upside down — is life even worth living anymore?"
The crowd buzzed with commentary — and then another familiar boom cut through the noise.
BOOM!
The Purple Horn Beast's body was launched into the air in an instant. No wonder it was the contract spirit everyone pinned their hopes on — even coughing up blood, it still looked pretty slick.
"How... how is that possible?"
Someone's eyes went wide as they stared blankly at the scene.
The face-slap came without warning. Absolutely impossible to block.
"Incredible skill level!"
Wang Feng's trained eye caught it immediately — the key to the Slime's overwhelming power.
Logically, a standard Charge skill shouldn't be this devastating.
But the opponent's skill level was absurdly high — high enough to trigger a qualitative change.
"Next! Next!"
Chen Shu kept hustling them along, acting like he genuinely had somewhere to be, treating his opponents like they didn't exist.
"Let me try!"
A brawny male student stepped out, his expression dead serious.
If the first fight could be written off as Deng Yuan's carelessness, then Wen Yu's defeat was proof of the Slime's genuine strength.
CRASH!
In an instant, an Earth Rock Turtle roughly eight meters across materialized. Its sheer mass made the arena platform tremble.
"Let's see you try ramming THIS!"
The boy folded his arms across his chest and stared down at the Slime.
The size gap was immediately apparent. No matter how high the Charge skill level, there was no way it could work against something this massive.
"You're competing with ME on size?"
Chen Shu raised an eyebrow and ordered the Slime to use Gigantification.
Its body inflated like a balloon, swelling to a full six times its original size.
The Earth Rock Turtle, which had been looking down at the Slime, went wide-eyed in horror. It craned its neck upward, staring at the behemoth now towering over it.
"Holy shit! An F-rank contract spirit learned Gigantification?!"
Wang Feng's eyes bulged, and a strangled shout escaped him.
The Special Training students gawked at the Slime's colossal form, rendered speechless.
Just looking at it was too much to handle...
"Goo-gii! Goo-gii!"
The Slime bounced lightly on its haunches, peering down at the little turtle below.
"Let's see if you can take it!"
Chen Shu broke into a grin. The Slime's eyes snapped wide, and it unleashed Charge.
The Earth Rock Turtle's movement speed was glacial. There was no dodging — all it could do was sit there and take the full brunt of the impact.
"Next! Next!"
Chen Shu waved them along. The Earth Rock Turtle hadn't been knocked off the platform, but its shell was riddled with countless cracks. It had no choice but to concede.
"Jiang Tian, you're up!"
Wang Feng let out a sigh and finally turned to one particular boy in the class.
He was the only one who'd remained composed throughout, radiating an air that set him apart from everyone else.
When he heard his teacher's call, the boy slowly stretched out a languid yawn.
"Well then. Allow me to put an end to this little farce."
Jiang Tian's expression was serene — dripping with cool-guy energy.
"I'm getting this overwhelming urge to bag this guy with a urea bag. Anyone else feeling it?"
Chen Shu sidled over to Shen Wushuang and the other two, muttering under his breath.
All three nodded in perfect unison. Deeply relatable.
SCREECH!
In a flash, a magnificent bird appeared — its body covered in blue and purple plumage, radiating a terrifying aura.
"A Level 8 Storm Thunder Bird?"
Chen Shu narrowed his eyes, recalling the opponent's contract spirit.
A dual-element contract spirit. No wonder the guy could show off that smoothly...
"Let's begin. What a tedious fight."
Jiang Tian's expression was one of practiced disinterest, as if nothing in the world could hold his attention.
BOOM!
The next instant, the Slime's body launched skyward, shifting into flight mode.
The Storm Thunder Bird never saw it coming — it was rammed head-on, blood spraying from its beak, eyes nearly bulging out of their sockets.
The previously noisy Beast Taming Arena went dead silent. Every single person stared at the platform in a daze.
Jiang Tian's mouth fell open. That carefully cultivated look of detachment glazed over into vacant shock...
Chen Shu broke into a grin. "What the fuck are you showing off for?!"
"Fuck you!"
WHOOSH! WHOOSH! WHOOSH!
The Slime kept blasting Wind's Breath, hurtling like a guided missile, slamming into the bird with merciless force.
"Dodge it!"
Jiang Tian's cool-guy act was officially dead. He scrambled to take control of the Storm Thunder Bird.
The bird beat its wings hard, managing to open up a sliver of distance.
"Die!"
In that instant, the glow of a skill appeared in its beak — a ball of crackling lightning gathering.
But the skill hadn't finished charging.
BOOM!
The Slime rammed it out of the sky, interrupting the technique entirely.
The Storm Thunder Bird lost its balance and spiraled toward the edge of the platform, crashing to the ground with a sickening thud.
Looking at the Storm Thunder Bird lying there like a dead dog, the entire arena fell silent.
"This is what your class's top student can do?"
Chen Shu shook his head, disappointment written all over his face.
In truth, the Storm Thunder Bird was incredibly powerful. Unfortunately, Jiang Tian had been too busy showing off, and the Slime closed the distance in a heartbeat.
Then again, nobody could've predicted that an oversized bouncy ball could fly...
"From a professional standpoint, your posing had real layers to it — genuinely impressive visual appeal. Shame your combat power is absolute garbage."
Chen Shu delivered his brief review, then turned his gaze to Wang Feng.
"Twenty High-Grade Beast Orbs. Settle up, please."
Wang Feng's face looked like a man who'd been constipated for a month while complaining daily that Blue Star had no gravity.
Nanjiang First High lost THIS badly?
It made no sense!
He stared at the Slime — currently fast asleep on the platform — and nearly gave in to the urge to summon his own contract spirit and beat it senseless.
"Hmph! What's the rush? Most of my students haven't even fought yet!"
Unable to accept defeat, Wang Feng planted his feet and doubled down.
Chen Shu's eyebrow rose. A set of options appeared before his eyes.
[Option 1: Say to Shen Wushuang, "Teacher, someone's trying to welch — aren't you gonna bury him?" Completion Reward: Large amount of Beast Taming Power]
[Option 2: Defeat them one by one until they admit defeat! Completion Reward: Three High-Grade Beast Orbs]
[Option 3: Start an all-out brawl — one versus many, and win! Completion Reward: Charge skill +1]
